That template looks like it takes a lot of guess work out of the equation. I'll shoot him a PM for sure.

That sounds like a great plan to me! I'll let you know when the bushings arrive and i'll swing on by when you're free. Thanks Jack!

congrats on the lift :)
now i can relax even more and dream about my next one lol.
I have the cardboard template around here somewhere. can let you borrow if you want next time i am up there, which should be Thanksgiving week.

haha, I didnt want you to feel rushed! I like the idea of new springs, and I'm sure i'll be running this combo for a while. Thanks for the offer, but I payed LandTank for the template this morning before work.

You going to be up here all that week? We should all plan a little day run somewhere.

yup. all week :D

and then during Christmas, I will be up there for 2 straight weeks. Probably coming up on the 17th of December.

Finally got the springs on.

Drives very nice, and i'm happy with the results. I dont see why some people say its "harsh." (first pic is an old one for comparison.)

33's look kinda small though!

Looks great. I had the OME J springs on my 80 and I loved the way it rode. You just can't beat a coil spring suspension. I wish the 100 rode like the 80...

Here's a pic of mine with the J's and 255/85's on it.

What do you have in the 100? I don't think I've ever driven an off road truck that had a smppther ride.

The hundy is stock, on the 1.5 mile washboard road to my house there was no comparison between the 100 and the 80. Even the Disco Rover rode a lot nicer than the 100... Until the LR's "Crash sensors" would activate my emergency flasher's. Then you'd have to turn the ignition off to re set them.

That's a cool pic, jereme. The Rover and LC are the only two vehicles ive ever owned, so my opinion on coil sprung suspension is a little biased. :grinpimp: I'm going to remove the sway bars tomorrow, so I can see how well it can stretch it's legs on tuesday when i go chukar hunting. Probably wont be much since i still have the stock shocks on though (7100's are going on soon.)

your truck looks really good now. it's amazing what a little lift will do for our trucks.

Interesting, I didn't like the ride in our 100 with the stock suspension, it was kind of mushy in turns. But it has always had a smooth ride on washboard IMHO, that's about the only thing I like about the IFS. I guess I really need to drive an 80 sometime.

It's like butter in an 80, they just soak up the bumps. Next time your in death Valley jump in with Jack, or anybody else with an 80.

Thanks Matt, that's just north of Pyramid. Yours is looking great.

Agreed! 4" Slee+ 35" w/7100's made DV washboard like driving down a highway

Coming late into this thread but some points for you to consider Matt:

- current offering of OME medium kit yields nearly 3" of lift in a no winched 80. The new springs are better constructed so supposedly they'll sag less. Also, the new shocks have a different tune and I got to test them out on a friend's 80 last week. All I can say is that they're very nice.

- I agree with the folks above, stick with 2.5"/33" combo. This is a very nice combo and relatively inexpensive. With good driving skills and a good spotter, you'll be able to go everywhere where a taller 80 can go.

- local buddy has the OME caster correction bushings and that is not enough in his opinion . He wished he had bought the Slee caster correction bushings for more correction. This is probably too late info for you though.

If you'd like more info, email me and I'll hook you up with my local buddy, John.

Later.

Thanks Ali.

I took carefull measurements from the center of the axle to the lip on the fender. I have them at home right now, but if I remember correctly it was about 2" in the front, and 3" in the rear. I thought the front would come up a bit higher, but maybe thats normal.

I went on a fly fishing trip to bridgeport yesterday, and the truck drove pretty well the entire way there and back. I can notice a bit of wander on the freeway, and a small drift under breaking at times, but nothing horrible. Hopefully the 2* bushings will take care of that. I need to search and brush up on how to measure the caster so I can see what it is after jack and I press in the new bushings.

My 7100's are valved at 400/100 and 360/80. What are you running your's at, Ali? Hopefully i'll have the mounts made soon so i can put them on the truck too.

Thanks!

Regarding the caster readings, here's what I suggest: go to Firestone and get the lifetime alignment for $140. Have a printout stating your current alignment, then do your bushings and then return to Firestone for another alignment printout. Ideally, this should've been done before the 80 was lifted so that you know your baseline but no biggie. This way, you can quantify your seat of the pants feelings with an actual caster number.

Regarding the valving, I'm not quite sure what my fronts are right now as I've mucked with them quite a bit and are off of the Bilstein charts. But, if I were to guess, they are probably somewhere around 440/145. The rears are 400/135.

HTH.
