I'm not calling it a complete failure. For many people, it might be just the ticket and at the right price. For me, it does not check all of the boxes.

I finished up the install this morning before it got hot. Overall, the fit is decent. The places where it looks bad in pictures actually look fine in person, but there is ONE spot that is completely unacceptable.

Having trouble getting pics up, check back this afternnoon. Stupid Flickr.

The Grom Vline looks WAY more intriguing than this route.

The Vline looked like the shiz. They had me right up until "monthly 3GB fee"... I already have enough monthly fees for cell phone and Sirius/XM. I ain't paying for one more.

Installed:

The gap at the top is unacceptable. I don't think it is an install issue, I just don't see how it would fill that gap.

The difference between the vents and the aluminum looks o much worse in pictures. In person it does not look out of place. Hard to explain.

I just ran the wifi and GPS antennas out the gap for testing purposes.

The glossy screen is horrible. I can see my passenger better than I can the screen. With polarized sunglasses, and tilting you head to the right to see the screen better, it polarizes out the screen.

We drove around doing errands this morning. I had Pandra crash a few times. Also had it get stuck between backup camera and FM radio which was weird. It is generally glitchy.

I will work on seeing how to get the back up camera working. I think it should be pretty easy, but we'll see. Bad news is it's so HOT!!! Maybe I'll get some time after work to work on it.

Hi All,

With the Android MFD: I wouldn't mind to contribute, if the OP posts an account (Paypal?).
His initial capex of $500 and time and effort saved us a lot of money and potential frustration.
If all folks watching that thread pitch in $5 would be wonderful..

I think, that regardless of a country and currency, $5 is doable by an owner of a 100.

seanz0rz (and @macmann): it was hella hot up in Sac this weekend, I didn't envy you! Thanks to you both for taking a chance, spending the time [and money!] to explore and sharing your results with all of us. maybe time for a refund...

here's how i look at it. if it gives you a wifi signal in your vehicle all your devices (passengers' too) aren't using their mobile data when in vehicle, so while it may 'add' cost, it reduces costs elsewhere.

ever see your cellular bill after a 10 hour road trip with kids and a wife on ipads? any help in additional data is welcome.

i'm going to start a different thread on the V Line so this can get back to its intended purpose.

I have Sprint unlimited data on all my phones (old plan I'm hanging on to as long as they'll let me) so my bill never changes. 5 lines, under $240/mo including taxes and fees...

i started a separate thread re: vline. i still hope this android thing works, but with the challenges these guys are having, it looks like the grom unit will be a good compromise and they are a proven US based company with support network.

Back to stock for me. Bottom line was my wife didn't like it. It has some bugs and glitches too.

Not sure what to do with it now.

Still sitting in a box under my desk. It was just too buggy to have in a primary vehicle. Let me know if you're interested in giving it a try.

I'm just getting my first LX so I'm worried about the audio downgrade without bluetooth a2dp. Looks like the the Grom Vline will be the a needed upgrade.

I'm getting interested in this. Do you know what model have you got ? I noticed a firm called Canavie that is working on it. I'm looking to compare this with the Grom Vline.

Just saw this installation of the same system you were trying and A/C was working. Could it be the wiring?

I contacted Canavie...and got a response! They linked me to this video, titled "Full Instruction to Car Multimedia Stereo GPS for Lexus LX470 LX570 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 LC100" ->

This is what he quoted for me in price: US$550 including map and DHL/EMS Shipping to USA.

Anyone with car audio installation experience car to give this a view and give an opinion on it's validity & thoroughness?
