I'm looking at swapping the 2uz into my fj40. so i will be watching this thread carefully to see how to put the manual onto a 2uz.

I have the bell housing, pedals, master & slave cylinder, all the tubing, boots. I have the word out for an ECU (UAE, South Africa, Australia and Japan) when I have it I will look in purchasing the transmission. if you were to swap the engine you have to have the ECU and manual ECUs don't come easy and cheap for that matter. A member has one listed right now for $750 plus shipping (can't afford right now) worse than looking for the eco is to find someone to do the swap, just about every mechanic I speak to openly refuses... I mean won't even consider or think about it just out right refuse.
I don't have a garage to work on nor have a reliable friend to help out.... lots of barriers

I am offered a SWEET 80 series, low mileage, Turbo diesel, RHD, H151F transmission with front and rear lockers... one owner with no mods what so ever. I am told rust free pictures look great.... But its a lot of money.... almost $45k after all said and done (Finance charges with interest)
I am not new to RHD, I actually learnt to drive in right hand drive, one of my uncles actually owned the exact model too... so lots of sentiments involved so I am brain storming right now....

Another member had done a manual swap I am just gonna copy and post it here:

The process was very easy and took about 3 days to complete. The least of your worries is the clutch pedal. There is enough space for it to go under the dash without any issues.

If you choose to change your transmission, the mechanic will have to change your brake pedal as well. I believe your automatic brake pedal is long diagonally, where as the brake pedal for a manual transmission is smaller for the clutch pedal to fit.

Another thing, the chassis/body where the gear leaver and the low/hi gear are, the spacing of the chassis (fitment of the transmission for you to access) is smaller for the auto than the manual. Your mechanic needs to shave off the edges of the chassis/body where your gear is for you to access the manual transmission, and basically for it to fit and for the leaver to move through gears freely.

The harness for the automatic gear will need to be taped and hidden away as you will not need them, all you will need is the speed sensor plug which is a direct fit to the manual transmission, and to wire the reverse so your reverse lights work. You will also need to change the cover of the gear inside the car as you just changed trannys.

THIS MESSAGE BELOW IS FOR EVERYONE WHO WISH TO DO A CONVERSION:

AS YOU KNOW, THE 2UZ-FE ONLY COMES IN AN FULL TIME ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM. WHAT I DID TO DELETE THAT WAS CHANGE THE CENTER DIFF WITH A 1FZ-FE 4.5L DIFF (1998-2007) SINGLE DIFF. SO BASICALLY YOU WILL END UP WITH ALL TIME RWD, AND WHEN YOU HIT THE 4WD SWITCH, IT WILL BECOME 4X4. FOR YOU TO USE ON THE DUNES AND SUCH.

BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THIS, ONE OF THE BEST MOVES I DID. THAT FULL TIME 4X4 SYSTEM FOR THE 2UZ-FE IS BS AND VERY ANNOYING. OF COURSE YOU WILL HAVE TO CHANGE THE DRIVE SHAFT (DS) DEPENDING ON CENTER DIFF AND YOUR LUCK. FOR ME, THE FRONT DS DID NOT CHANGE, HOWEVER THE BACK DS WAS CHANGED TO A 2011 LAND CRUISER MODEL AND IT FIT + WORKS GREAT. yOU MIGHT ALSO ENCOUNTER A PROBLEM WITH THE 4X4 SWITCH AS I DID, WHERE YOU MIGHT HAVE TO CHANGE THE RELAY SWITCH FOR THE 4X4 BUTTON.

This is exactly what i went through with the transmission change and Diff change.

Hopes this is helpful.

Well..... gain is high if I can pull it off. I am in the process of importing an 80 series, it will be a while till I can pull this off, hopefully soon. Parts are hard to come by and not cheap.

Did you bring it down from Australia? How did you manage to get it imported?

Sorry to tease you it’s not in the USA. I wanted to show all they do make it and you CAN make it happen.

In UAE 200 Series land cruisers are equipped with 1GR-FE with H150F transmission instead of the RA61F, which FJ cruisers came on the same engine.

I want 5 speed manual and full time 4wd. I need to keep saving and find out where I can source the pieces.
Yes this is an expensive taste save up! I scratched the surface and in about $1500 still to buy a transmission, ECU, cross member..... parts list goes on
