I don't care what anyone says, I think that's slick! I thought about that very thing instead of having all that weight up top.

Thanks. I figure that since 90% of the time I'm just driving to and from work, it seems kind of pointless to have a big heavy load up there just baking in the sun all day.

Got this beauty with a 4bd1t about 2 months ago and i'm cleaning it and gearing it up :-)

Curious, the green 60, what colour is that? Thought it was my rig for a second!

CruiserPilot the color is from Land Rover; its called: 2001 Kent Green Metallic

The only way to reliably get a Land Rover in and out of the bush is to paint a Land Cruiser with Land Rover colors!

1994 LC build in progress

Found out I was going to be a daddy for the THIRD time, so I got rid of the M3 and began building our new "family" expedition rig.

3" lift with castor correction, 35" BFG ATs, TJM XGS Gold edition suspension fore and aft, custom built drive shafts fore and aft, TJM bull bar up front and a dual swing-out by Maxis on the back. More work to do before we pile up and move across the continent this summer!

Nice and congrats on #3. Whats next on the xpedition mods build list?

Congrats! You standing on the step rail really puts the ride height into perspective.

Thanks!

Thanks folks! I've got two phases of work coming up and am dropping it off at M.I.T. (fantastic shop in Santee, CA) here on Wednesday while I sail the seven seas for a month. (Not all seven..just the Pacific).

Phase I
1) Installing new one piece HID headlights with black backing
2) Installing Hella Black Magic 1000 lights on the bullbar in the center
3) Installing one circular LED light a bit higher on the bullbar and off-centered (where the Aussies mount their HF antenna)
4) Having the rear bumper re-enforced - it is a bit wobbly
5) "Blacking out" the front grill and headlight-surrounding chrome with vinyl spray.
6) Installing a 10k lb winch in the bullbar (got to figure out where to move the license plate
5) New Power-steering pump and a new timing belt.

Phase II
1) Installing a Baja Rack (one with a basket in the front and then flat in the back for a tent.
2) CVT tent for the roof

That will pretty much do it. I forgot to mention the interior earlier but I had it gutted and finished with spray-in bed liner for the decking and had the seats all recovered in two tone marine vinyl - black bolsters with sand colored insets. Looks great!

Any other ideas for the trek across?

Drool...

Because drool.

I've never seent his thread but glad I found it...lots of very cool rigs and ideas here. This is mine...it was a US spec 88 FJ62 that now sports a 12HT Diesel with an H42 tranny and a Marlin Toybox. SOA with fully built axles and some customer bodywork and aluminium flatbed courtesy of FC Fab in Stockton CA. Lots of little things left to do, but you get the idea. It has all the comforts of a camper (hot shower, toilet, kitchen, grill, fridge, stove etc...but it can spank the Rubicon Trail or the like.
