Last week on my buddy's property in Grand County. Starting to come back after the East Troublesome fire, especially with this rainy year. Baby aspens EVERYWHERE and about chest high. First time camping in the LX. I just threw my backpacking mattress in the back of the truck.

July 4th wkd, last minute trip down to Buena Vista. Secluded spot away from the swarms, overlooking full Collegiate range, about 5 mi east of town up a jeep trail. First camp out w our 3-month old son. Got the new Kodiak Canvas VX 10x10 in play as well, really love it.

Hah! I built the same style platform for my old 100 series that we now use in the LX. Perfect height for our coolers and other containers.

Unfortunately I had to notch out the sides for the 3rd row seats. We use them too frequently for kid+ hauling to uninstall.

Nice. Yeah, it's been a great addition. Used some 3/4 Baltic birch ply, stapled gray carpet liner from HD and 1/2" steel threaded rod + flanges in triangle pattern for legs. Floats, rigid. In and out of truck in a few mins. Use UHMW sheet (mcmaster) under Dometic so it slides in and out w ease onto hatch door.

While not a complicated design, I found the original plans in this 100-series build thread

Ouray and The Maze

the Dollhouse was legit awesome
The Dollhouse is amazing. Never been there in Land Cruiser but have been in a 4Runner and a Jeep. Is the gas station in Hite open? Been pondering the fuel planning to make a trip there in the LC with no aux tank. Suppose I need to put in for permits first then worry about the gas later.

Nope it’s closed. Closest gas is Hanksville at this time. Bring 15 gallons extra. I used 31.8 total but Matt needed closer to 36.

Permits this time of year were super easy to get, just go to recreation.gov

Trail Creek is a beautiful area. We’re rebuilding our place that was lost in the fire there, probably just down the road from here. Is your buddy rebuilding? The Aspen regrowth is really crazy…in a few more years it’s going to be unreal.

He hasn't started yet, but he's budgeting/planning for a new structure. Probably going to break ground in a year or two. Thankfully the well and septic survived :)

Dispersed camping on a trail that’s near Ampitheater campground. The spot with the prime view at the top was taken so we just took something shaded in the woods.

Pretty bad shot, but the only one I took of our most recent trip from the Bay Area up to Oregon for the 4th of July.

We spent the night dispersed camping in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest on Mount Eddy across from Mount Shasta. Our goal was to make it all the way to the top and find a spot with an epic view of Mount Shasta, but the road was super washed out and with the sun going down and kids clamoring for food we decided to grab the first decent spot along the trail.
