On the trail to Delamar, NV

I saw a couple nice FJ while i was down there. I did see another sandstorm just like yours lol.

Pretty sure I saw yours Thanksgiving day. We were buzzing up and down the beach and checking out the horses. We spent a good part of Fri and Sat closer to Kill Devil Hills. We'll be back for next thanksgiving no doubt, this time with a house on Carova. One of the coolest places left in the eastern US.

Take Care

And I thought I was nice for letting my son drive my almost 18 year old 80 series everyday! WOW!

I bet he will be one excited guy on Christmas morning!

Personally, I bought my kids a cheap older car/truck for their first one and let them learn to take care of that one. I've taught several to drive though in my 40 because of the granny low first gear and forgiving clutch makes it pretty easy to learn to drive a stick. Teaching two sisters (15 & 16) who are good friends of the family right now as a matter of fact. They are both good drivers and very proud of the fact that they can drive a manual transmission 4x4, something that many boys at their high school cannot do. :)

Proof that metrosexualism has infected beyond NYC.

My twelve year old daughter may inherit the FJC when it's time, but by then it won't be much to post up about, and with many stipulations.

Nice gift!

He's a good kid and makes good grades. As a father who didn't have anything growing up (first car was a vega - and it smoked) I struggle with walking that fine line between providing for the kids with those things that I wanted but couldn't get. We have gone through several thoughts on the "first" vehicle for him either the '78 FJ40 (before we restored it) or my current '03 LandCruiser. I think I was just wanting to add another Cruiser to the family.

Larry - I understand completely, having my first car as a squadron hand me down at my first duty station at the age of 18 and it being a '76 Olds Cutlass Supreme. Each parent has to make that call for each kids, and we have 4. We bought two cars so our sons could drive, with the last one being the 80 which has also been a bit of a project vehicle for my son and I. We enjoy those hours under the hood or laying on our backs underneath the rig.

Congrats on the new Cruiser. I am betting that you and your son will thoroughly enjoy it, along with your others. Hey, make sure to get your radios so now you both can drive the fun in comfort!
