Ran a search but have no computer right now so its tough, only my phone.

Anyways leaking at the priming pump where you would screw the plunger in. The rubber washer is all stretched out, any good replacment ideas? I can't be the only one this must be a commen issue.

On a 3b. I can probably run to mclendons find something unless there is a better option. I have time to order something because I was able to hold the washer in ans get it to stop leaking diesel for now.

Thanks

There is 9 still available on ebay by Bosch. 2 447 222 126 for $6.95 & free shipping within US,should fit and dirt cheap! Got one myself. Just search Bosch primer pump.

Becarefull, I have read that there is a Bosh imposter on ebay, by a real bosh, support your local diesel injection guy, he should have one stock for ~ 25.00 if not, he dooesnt deserve to be suported.

I have now got 3 of the hand primers from the guy on Ebay for $6.95 they are all working great. I got a "real" Bosch one is it was identical so I took it back for a $40 refund. As far as I can tell they are real Bosch ones, one has been in a truck for 2 years and the other is just going in mine, the 3rd is a spare.

Can't find anything, this is the one I have. Again sorry only have my phone and its a pita searching.

The bosche one will work perfectly fine. Its a different design than your stock one, but will screw right in and prime just fine. Do the upgrade, I hate those plastic ones. I always felt like I was going to snap the plastic. And they leak.

Yep, the Bosch is the way to go. You have to swap over the spring and plunger (you'll see them when you unscrew your current primer). The Bosch works so much better than the stock unit!

The plastic plunger and alloy body was OEM. Here's my original primer:

They're well-made and typically last 20 years without leaking.

Don't make the mistake (like I did) of thinking all-steel (steel plunger and steel body) automatically represent good quality.

I bought this example from a well-known eBay seller and ended up dumping it within months due to leaking problems caused by internal design failures:

PS. I respect both Denso and Bosch brands. That second primer shown above was unbranded.

WTF?

ok help me out here, I put the new bosch one on and it does nothing.

So the goal is to get the diesel up to the lift pump so its not just cranking until it gets there...

So old pump, I would pump all air out until diesel started pouring out, bingo done.

New pump.... pump,pump,pump,pump.... wtf? nothing happens. I had this same pump on my wives rig but I figured that one had a return line or something. Mine does not have a return line so it must not be pumping? Its running all primed up yadda yadda went out there and pumped still nothing lol do they have like a float that stops once diesel hits it or something........

I am so confused.

I am always reading of replacing the plunger with another brand does no one out there ever just replace the O ring and call it a day.

Did you swap the spring and plunger from the old pump into the new Bosch pump?

As Kyle (FF LC FREAK) says, there's a "plunger-thingy & spring" fitted under the primer that together act as a check valve.

Without this check valve functiuoning properly, moving the plunger on primer would just oscillate the fuel back and forth without moving it forward.

You may have damaged the check valve if you didn't notice it when screwing in your Bosch. The stem of the "plunger" component must actually protrude into the base of your Bosch unit when you're fitting it as I recall

What O-ring Dieseler?

To recondition the OEM primer you'd have to take it apart and replace the moving seal inside. AFAIK the seals aren't available and besides, the pump body is not designed for any disassembly.

My mistake I thought there was a O ring inside but looking at the EPC just a valve, spring and the pump.
I have never had to replace one in the years I have had diesels and am curious is the OEM pump way more expensive that a $10 after market version my thoughts are if it lasted 30 years then the OEM must be reliable does anyone have 20-30 years on the after market versions.

If you replace it with the Bocsh one then yes look at any of the Diesel MB's on the road they all have this type primer. All the OEM Toyota primers I have used have leaked like crazy when trying to prime including my Diesel kiki one on my 4BD (same design).
