If it was yellow and in very nice shape, late 70's, its probably one of the TRUE BARN CRUISER stories here in Lafayette. My own barn cruiser story is that I found an FJ40 in a barn in Carencro for $500 with 42k original. Seats not even torn, with PTO, etc. used only for hunting w/oilfield personel. Mint condition. Anways, there's this Yellow FJ40 that this guy sold his friend for a few hundred bucks. It'd been in a barn but out of the weather. They sold it to/for his son. It didn't need much, they had the carb rebuilt downtown where they live. The boy is in the military now (a man), and I stopped by and chatted with the father a few months ago. We didn't have the club back then (as I know it)...anyway, he starts her up regularly and drives it a little bit on weekends. I passed by and spoke to the dad a few times...very nice fellow. You guys have me wanting to go ride around just checkout some of those I haven't seen in a while...lol...I know of several of them in Parks and all around Youngsville, Milton, etc...

Whenever you wanna go for a ride, let me know.. I'll spring for breakfast!

...and I've yet to meet someone that isn't sorry they sold their cruiser. :)

I'm ready... :bounce:

Scott and Larry will probably crash through the fence late one night, wench it up on the trailer and then take off and lay low for a while. In fact, I haven't hear much from them lately...must be training for the break in!

LOL  Its crossed my mind a couple times in the last month. I just want to save it from that place.

If you remember years ago a Orange 40 sitting out there for several years, that was my 70 model. A friend bought it from me and had it there to do a motor and tranny swap into it. A corvette 327 and Turbo 400. His wife filed for a divorce and seized all his funds, it swapped hands several times and the tranny shop sold off the motor and tranny to settle his storage costs. Short story is my Dad new it was sitting there and sent my brother to negotiate with the guy and got it for $800 dollars. They let the drivetrain go to s***, but the frame and body are still in perfect shape so I guess I did a good job on it. Its sitting in a barn at my Dads place in Tennessee. I just purchased a complete drivetrain for it from a guy here on MUD two weeks ago. It'll be picked up from North Carolina Saturday headed for Knoxville. It'll once again be reborn and stay in the family for the rest of its time cruising the mountains of East Tennessee. I think it meant something to my Dad that he saw all the sweat, money and time I put in it for that to happen to it. He told me the day I tore it down to the frame it would never go back together. I laughed at him with a big grin when I drive it out the driveway:)

Gotta love the color. :D

At it again. College girl driving an early 70's FJ40 around town. This is the third time I've seen her in the last month. It needs a little love but appears to be very reliable. I was tempted to chase her down and give her a card, but I thought I'd rather not have any run in with the law today. Its different chasing a guy down to talk about his 40 but a lady might think I was stalking her, and not the cruiser. I played it cool and just took pics.

LOL, she's probably thinking "Stalker! Stalker! He's taking pictures now"

Don't get sprayed with pepper spray for the cause dude! Don't act the stalker, let Larry do it. I bet he's running the plates right now!

Nice rig though.

 I thought about running her plates, but left it at a thought. If I catch her when she's not driving I'll ask her about it or drop a card on it. The safe way.

Come on Larry, you know you want to do it! *** ***

I better erase that. I don't want the police knocking on my door asking why I posted that girl's plate numbers all over the web.
