Late 2F Head Assy Question

Did some searching around and can't seem to find much info on what the below circled parts are. I see SOR calls them Exhaust / Intake guides. Can't find much more than that. PO did not have a cap on them, looking through some pictures I see others have caps on them. Are there specific caps? What do these guys do? Just trying to broaden my understanding of this engine.

Those fittings are for the air injection rail, which is part of the smog system.

They allow air to be pumped into each of the exhaust ports.

Since it's likely Georgia doesn't require emissions compliance, you should plug them with special threaded plugs.
