Hey guys,

Ray and I are doing the Sooke loop (where we usually go, Muir etc) tomorrow morning, leaving Langford at 8am. :meh:

Post in here if you'd like to come along, I'll check right before I leave at 8 tomorrow morning. I'll try to stop by Sooke A&W tomorrow at about 8:45 to see if there's anyone there.

Andrew

8:00 AM... woken by Ray shutting off his engine in the driveway. Oops... slept in. Who knew having a baby would be so tiring....

8:15 AM... Ray takes off his rear bumper and leaves it in my garage. :hillbilly: Load the cooler, some misc stuff into the cruiser and we're ready to go.

8:30 AM... meet up with Ray's 2 friends at Timmies. Eat breakfast and chat.

9:35 AM... arrive at the gravel pit and air down. WONDERFUL... my new Stauns I got for Christmas work AWESOME! Take a pee and drink the rest of my coffee and b.s. with Ray while my tires deflate. Cool

9:40 AM... the trip commences! No one takes pictures until Ray realizes his camera DOES work... it's his viewfinder that's dirty... not a bum lens. HAHAHAHA :D Phewf!

11:30 AM... break for lunch. I try out my new single burner butane stove from capital iron... works AWESOME... all we can smell is cooking spicy turkey dogs. We have a couple beer.

12:00 ... here are the pictures from the rest of the way up the hill. We stopped at the big rock gully thing at the bottom of the Birf Breaker hill, where I previously broke my birfield pulling Dano off the rocks. With Ray's good direction... I made it RIGHT UP! Open on the back, locked in the front.

2:45 ... we make it to the top, at the clearcut. Have another  to celebrate, and head back down the way we came in, with minor deviations along the way of course

Sorry I missed it bro, I was training all day. Looked like a good run. Ray's window looked a little different in some of the pics though....

Yeah, he backed into something on the trail and shattered the entire thing. :( He was holding it on with the tint and with an entire roll of duct tape that I gave him...

The secret to having only the front (and center) locked, is to have a bum motor on the back that does nothing. Cam and I spent several hours cleaning it but it still doesn't even try. The armature (sp?) is probably shot and will need a rebuild.

To that extent - anyone know of a good local shop that could rebuild the motor for me?

you could try the place that rebuilds starters/alternators down on princess they do good work... not sure if they can do a locker motor:

Brian Roberts Auto Electric Ltd.

Their prices for rebuilds wern't bad in the past... but I havn't used them for anything in quite a while.

Thanks for the tip, I called and talked to Brad... he said to bring the truck in next week, they'd take a look at the motor and give me an estimate. Here's hoping!:hhmm:

the Sooke loop

Just curious, are you going in and out the "scratchy way" where all the dirt bikers and quads are? Or is there some other entrance open that I don't know about...

Those scratchy bushes are the main thing keeping me from wheeling in Sooke... Take less time to drive to Jordan River than it does to polish the truck :p The odd soft branch is okay, but those things are like razors!

Going in and out the Itchy and Scratchy way :) That being said, the path isn't that long... you'd only be suffering for a few hundred meters. After that, it's AWESOME (as you can tell from the pics!)

Either that or bring your hedge clippers with you :D

It's all good a little, "BC pin-striping" adds character to your cruiser!
