So I have had the new tires and wheels for a few weeks and a few hundred miles. These tires are definitely heavier than my 16s and 285s. It is noticeable but I wouldn't change anything. I love the way they look. Tires are definitely louder. Brand new Nitto Exos are louder than my General Grabber AT2s with 60k miles on them. Seriously, my AT2s were SILENT during all 60k miles of ownership.

I think this is as heavy a tire / wheel combo I would go on a 4 speed 100 on stock gears. Also keep in mind I live at 6,400 ft above sea level. I do plan to regear the transfer case with Cruiser Outfitter's 10% Under Drive gears - (would net about 4.73 gear ratio for the 100s with a 4.3 stock) and also have them throw in the 25% 4Low reduction gears and rebuild the T Case. I figure while they are in there, rebuild the thing so its ready for another 20 years. My 98 only has 136k miles and I currently drive less than 10k a year.

Some pics from goofing around.

I also ordered the BenCC scanguage and switch panel for the sunglasses holder. Excited to get my scanguage a permanent home. I don’t like it velcroed to the steering column, can’t see CDL / rear locker lights

Ordered OME TBs. Hoping they will alleviate some body roll and brake diving. I will probably also be replacing the OEM shocks with Ironman Foam Cell Pros.

Maybe you guys can help me. I am kind of struggling with what I want to do next: Front bumper and winch or go ahead and put a Harrop E Locker in the front. Reading some recent threads of busted front diffs in snow has me a little worried as I have been pounding through unplowed roads and having too much fun in snow banks. I also want a winch because I do a ton of wheeling by myself. I am thinking maybe doing the front locker and getting some maxtrax as a compromise for the time being.

If you've made it this long without a winch and bumper, I say front locker. That being said, its not crazy expensive to find a front diff assembly out of a wrecked truck if you blow yours up. And they really aren't hard to swap...literally like 7-8 bolts, and 4 of those are the front driveshaft.

Another point....If you go with front locker, you can get stickers and add to your instagram bio TRIPLE LOCKED

thanks for reassuring me. Front diff is a known weak point and I havent needed a winch yet. I will probably get both this year anyway but
start with front diff. I do like a stealth build, Id like triple locked and 25% reduction gear for 4LOW. on a rig with a mild lift and sliders.

Rig looks great! Personally I’d go for the front winch over front locker, the locker will just get you to places that require even more winching 😉

I went snow wheeling once with eBay generic maxtrax and a shovel...ended up high centered on a bank and had to dig for 3 hours to get it out. Winch would have been much more helpful than a locker in that case.

Unless you blew up your front diff in the snow! Hahah kidding, a good point.

View attachment 1262915 First Mods: Tinted windows
30% fronts
5% over the factory mirrored.

HID Headlights
Had some KCs laying around so I put them on front bumper.

Added LEDs in the factory front bumper grills.View attachment 1262900
General Grabber AT2 285s
Before HIH5 I replaced the saggy rear springs with OME 865s 1.5" Medium load I think and replaced all 4 shocks.

The front bumper was torn up from previous owner so I plastidipped it black. works for me until I can get Blueberry or Benc or BIOR front bumper. Actually am thinking of doing front locker before bumper.... Thoughts?

I added a new Head Unit and CB radio

Another FREE mod that I love was the removal of the cheap fake wood trim! Updated the interior a bit I think. Also added the little change holder to left of gear shifter
I want to add the same lights on the bumper and in the grill, I've been looking for what it would look like. What lights do you have in the lower grill? Looks Great

I say split the difference and go for a hidden winch on the stock bumper and front locker.
I have taken my front bumper off more times than I would care to admit. Clips are missing, its held on with zip ties. Next time this bumper comes off, its going in the trash. If i am going to spend $500 on a hidden winch mount, I will just pony up for a full bumper. I do appreciate your insight however. My stock bumper is trashed.

Definitely makes sense in your case. I wouldn't spend 1/3 or more of the price of a bumper for a mount either. I've debated back and forth, but may do a hidden winch on mine. I'm fortunate enough, however to have a welder. I think I'm going to go with the $50 Harbor Freight mount as my base and modify it to fit.

Shoutout to @TRAIL TAILOR , I ordered his Front and Rear sway bar extended links last night late and they shipped not even 12 hours later. Amazon efficiency from a small operation. Thanks for the work you do.

I have been putting this off for two years I need to just order them.

Im excited. They will be super easy to swap out- started to soak in PB blaster already.

Yeah they are easy. I did one in a parking lot in grand junction on my trip this summer. Got totally blown out when my LCA broke. Noticed some popping the next trail we did after trail repair and noticed it was blown out. Bought a cheap one at napa in GJ and was good to go.

Ok so I have ordered the following:

1. OME TBs and the Reinforcement bracket
2. Extended Sway bars front and rear
3. Ironman Foam Cell pro front shocks

My current rear setup is: OME 865s with a 1in coil spacer and fox 2.0 shocks.

My current rake is too much. So I will definitely be reducing my rake to 1".
Do I need a Diff drop? I know this has been debated. I would like to run without one, my truck only has 130k and I have replaced one CV in the past few years. I have PFRAN's CV clamp kit - should I go ahead and regrease and reclamp them after the lift is installed?

I decided to go ahead and get a Diff drop - do it right the first time. I measured my Driver side wheel hub center to fender: Front was 19.5 and rear was 23.25! I have wayyyyy too much rake.

So I am still running my 285/75 R 16 spare. Do I need to get a spare that matches my new tire size (275 70 R18)? According to this calculator, they are only 1% off

Ok time to do a little update:

as of a few weekds ago, my suspension set up is as follows: OME TBs, Ironman foam cell pro front shocks, OME 865 rear coils and 1" spacer and Fox 2.0 shocks i nthe rear. Trail Tailor Diff drop and Trail tailor extended front and rear sway bars.

the TBs, front shocks and extended sway bars and diff drop are new. I was getting a lot of body roll before. now body roll has been reduced 90%. Rides amazing! the truck is so much more stable. I fell back in love with the 100!

Also Tire update: Nitto Exo Grapplers - in snow they do AMAZING. Great winter tire thats also aggressive. I drive Teton Pass 3/4 times per week. Of course in Ice, they arent great but much better than my worn General Grabber AT2s were ( cannot fault them as theyhad 55k miles on them)
