Good to hear it went well. Let me know if you need help with anything. Like maybe someone to test out your Globetrotter for a while...

Ryan - it's killing me. Globetrotter is arriving here tomorrow and I won't be able to do a :censor: thing with it for a couple of months! Hope to at least get it mounted on the trailer while I'm off work They want me out 6 weeks and know I'll be going crazy by then.

Happy to see you are out of surgery and all went well. I feel for you though, you are not the kind of person who likes to sit around. At least you will be able to catch up on all the books you have always wanted to read? If anything comes up and you need a hand, let me know. I can always come over and help.

:bounce: Yahoo! :bounce2:

PT has already taken me of my walker and now using just a cane! Love it! :D

Range of motion bending the knee went from 90 to almost 110 degrees (105 officially) since Friday. Full PT session today wasn't bad at all. Assume some will probably be worse going forward, but at least initially all the effort into exercise uo front is paying off...so far.

Medicated waterproof bandage came off today revealing 25 staples! Those will come out Monday. Best news is that the incision looks normal. No angry red or swelling, etc.

Brent, if you don't mind me asking? How old ate you, my knees have been in pain for years and at 37 I'm too young to get a knee replacement.

I'll be 56 this year. Competitive tennis in HS and college plus running until told I should stop by an orthopod at 48/49 contributed to the bone on bone. DNA as well - my mom had her knee replaced at 76.

No harm in having xray's taken of the knees is there?

Good luck on your recovery!

Let me give you a piece of advice. Whenever you have a lot of down time, make sure your computer, phone and credit cards are as far away from each other as possible.

 Fortunately I spent everything I had on a used Eezi-Awn Globetrotter tent that arrived last Saturday. No funds left to do anything!

Brent let us know if you want a group of us to come over and install it for you (trailer / truck)? I doubt your knee will be able to support that weight for a long time.

Went for my six week post op visit on Monday and it's all good news. I'm at 1 to 2 degrees still on straightening the leg - very close and that stretch is a bitch! I'm able to bend the knee to 132 degrees and that's great. 135-140 is max.

Here's what the suture looks like now. Healing very nicely. Final two pics are of the front/side views of the implant. Just had to have copies of those x-rays for my file! They did put in the latest and greatest of full rotational knee implants. For any of you that might have caught an article in the OC Register a few weeks back, my surgeon was interviewed and they talked about the implant he used on me.

So what brand knee do you have?

They put in a Dupuy Attune rotating platform posterior stabilized total knee system.
My surgeon, Dr. Robert Gorab, is one of the best and was on the international team that developed this newest of implants.

Great news, glad to hear everything is going good!

Dang Brent, are you trying to outdo me on the surgery count? :flipoff2:
Late as usual  but very glad to see you are healing well. Work that new knee as hard as you can stand.
I will have to swing by for a visit my friend.

 I will never catch up to the surgery king Mo! Been working my :censor: off for the past 7 weeks. Mostly muscle soreness at this point, but still working it hard to be sure I get the leg straight and range of knee flexation come back.

Just scheduled the right knee for 11.26.13! It hasn't been quite as bad as the left was, but telltale signs I recognize say it's headed the same route. Pretty much bone on bone on it too, so getting it done this year also since I've met all my insurance deductibles. Thanksgiving won't be so much fun, but it'll be worth it in the long run.

Hope all is well with you and the family. I'm around this week, but insurance may force me back to work next week sitting 8 hours a day and that won't be comfortable - read stiff into the knee. Will need to get accomodation for all my walking, stretching and icing at work!
