Keep 16inch wheels or get 18s?

Currently 295/75r16 Ko2 and switching to 295/70r18 Mud terrain (Stt Pro's most likely) on Tundra wheels ($200) by the end of the summer.
16" tires are slowly disappearing, nobody makes a 295/75r16 mud terrain anymore and 2/4 wheels are bent.
My only concern is my front diff and the slightly bigger tire size (1" overall diameter increase).

Hmmmm the difference between 295 75 16 and 285 75 16 is so small that you might as well just get 33" if not willing to go to 34" at 305/70/16... both 33" and 34" have full suppprt of most MT tires, whereas 33.4" have 1 version that i was able to find.

If dedicated off road rig needing MT might as well go for the 34" but if scareeld of fitment many 33" MT available.

Here are my miniature versions of what @Manhattan is running—16x6, with 235/85R16 Discovery AT3s. Really like this setup for on and off road, but, yes, skinny 16” tires are going to get harder and harder to find. If/when that happens I’ll go Tundra steelies and 255/70s....

Reviving this. @Haring Bagsik can you share details of your 18" wheels? Brand, size, spacers, etc. I like that look a lot, especially at stock height. Did any issues arise running with those wheels at stock ride height?

Wheels are 18” Mickey Thompson Deegan 38s wrapped in 285/70/18 Toyo ATII. No issues on stock height.

I'm running the 2021 Tundra Trail Edition wheels, which are 18" and finished in graphite. My tires are 275/70R18 BFG KO2s and I have BORA 1.25" spacers with an Ironman 4x4 2" lift, Stage 2. I regularly get compliments on my wheels, but I actually don't love the overall look. I think the rim face is too big and there is not enough tire sidewall showing--not to mention they're skinny. I've debated about increasing my tire size, but there's no denying that 16" wheels with fat tires barely hanging onto the rim look rad af on these rigs. Sigh...

I feel you. Every time I see some cool 18" Tundra rims on an LC, I think I want them. And they do look awesome. But I know what I like more is what you described: 16" wheels with fat tires barely hanging onto the rim

Sorry for the slow reply—I think you found me on Instagram and I might’ve answered there. But they’re 16x6 79-series take offs I got from Cruiser Parts…
Believe they’re part number 42611-60D30. They’ve been great—only wish they had a little bit of positive offset. (They’re 0 offset).

loved this whole thread, I rarely read thru a whole thread! :bounce2:
