Keep 16inch wheels or get 18s?

I think your perspective on how big an inch is may be off a bit. 18s are not quite in the "homeboy" class. Ya really gotta have a 2 in the front there - 20s, 22s...

These are 18s. Not likely to see this wheel/tire size combo on any Escalades... homeboy ;)

Homeboy right here!! 20s!...

18's aren't going to hurt you offroad. Also, if you plan on keeping your 100 for a while, wheels/tires are only getting bigger. I feel the 18's make the overall look of the 100 newer. Sidewall flex is a real issue offroad, but with proper tire pressure along with good tire selection and I wouldn't give 18's a second thought.

I do agree you usually down grade your quality of wheel with an aftermarket wheel... OEM is VERY high quality.

Never seen those bad boys! What are they?
Thank you!! They're Black Rhino sproket wheels. They're 18x9 +18 offset

I went factory 18s since I daily drive a lot and it feels a lot less boaty on the road than 16s, but 16s for a dedicated offroad rig for sure.

I swapped from 16s to 18s tundras and they feel a lot better on the highway. Truck felt floaty before but now it's nice and tight, looks better too.

Powder coat the stock 16s, especially if it isn't your daily. Don't put those aftermarket black wheels on either your or your dad's hundy, they look awful. Stock wheels are forged and stronger than any of the cheap aftermarket wheels.

If you're going to off road, keep the 16". If you're going to do more DD, go with the 18".

I REALLY like the look of the 16s with 285 75 16 A/T tires..I've decided to stick with the stock alloys and just get them powedercoated.

Who makes that wheel?

I know you didn’t ask me but they are Tundra steel wheels that often can be found on eBay craigslist etc in painted silver or black finishes. They weigh more than the Tundra alloys obviously- there’s a thread up hear somewhere with oem wheel weights I think.

Hope this helps

I think these are 17” on the FJ but look amazing

If you want a better ride and more grip off road, you should stick with the 16's. However, if you want more bling and you drive your truck on the pavement, then you may prefer to have the 18's.
Personally, I had my factory 16's powder coated and puta larger diameter tire (KO2). Factory wheels are typically better made than a lot of aftermarket wheels.

what about 18 vs 20 on lx? i use it only for highway never off road.
have the 20 on since i bough it in 2014 and never tried the 18 yet.
i am looking for smooth and quite ride any suggestion is appreciated.
also, if you could recommend tires as well would be great.

Notes: we never have snow where i live.

cheers

If you're always on the road, 20 would be fine (just "blingy" IMO). Personally, 18 is a solid choice for daily driving/pavement pounding duties. Michelin Defender LTX would be perfect for pavement.

Thanks! Sorry for the delay!

I kept my 99’ 16’s and put them on my 06’... personally, I don’t think any offroad vehicle should have larger than a 16” rim

Currently 295/75r16 Ko2 and switching to 295/70r18 Mud terrain (Stt Pro's most likely) on Tundra wheels ($200) by the end of the summer.
16" tires are slowly disappearing, nobody makes a 295/75r16 mud terrain anymore and 2/4 wheels are bent.
My only concern is my front diff and the slightly bigger tire size (1" overall diameter increase).

295/70/18s are the cat’s meow!
In my opinion they are probably the perfect size for the 100. Plenty of sidewall. I run 12psi on trails and get great grip with a great ride. I beat on them pretty hard and have never had an issue.
