Kaon Roof Shelf...

Question for all you Kaon owners. How hard would it be to turn the shelf around? I think I would prefer access from the passenger side for soft pack coats and blankets. Would the roof lines still work?
You could just not put the back on the shelf that keep things from going forward.

I thought about that, but I would also like that back panel in the rear for molly mounting to the back side.

I've never tried it, but note that there are three different positions for depth. So in theory you could turn it around and then pick the depth that works the best.

Good to know! Thanks.

What I did to solve is rear access Kaon…and still left my Roof Attic on forward of the Kaon. Works a charm for soft goods forward (jacket, pillow, hat, etc) then full access to hard shelf from back. Kaon is great for cramming stuff sacks, pillows, matts, chairs, as it doesn’t droop like s mesh attic.

Best of both worlds.

That's why I like it. It appears to be solid out of the way visually. I just prefer it accessed from the rear seat.

Ya, I see the appeal of that. You can definitely run the barrier forward or backward. Even the open side has a recessed edge at the bottom, so I would think it would still keep stuff in pretty well without launchingforward.

I think turning it around would work fine. The only issue is it really limits what you can put up there safely. Everything on that shelf would become a cannon ball in a fontal collision. Soft goods shouldn't be an issue, but even a small bluetooth speaker or other 'hard' items could become lethal objects under those unavoidable incidents. Blankets and coats shouldn't be an issue though.

Yep. I'm thinking strictly soft pack items. Hard items, flashlights, first aid, etc. would mount on the backside.

I just ordered one and it is in route now. Will be selling it new in the box once it arrives. Reason being I’m going with the Alpha Trekboxx and the two are not compatible. Lemme know if interested. I’ll be glad to take a little bit of a hit on it to a fellow member.

I'll take it. PM sent.

Anyone happen to have the bolt-to-bolt dimension handy for the 3rd row grab handle? I'm contemplating some level of DIY with the delta vehicle system brackets if hole alignment is close enough. If no one's measured (out of curiosity), I'll come back here to report it when I get around to wrestling the covers off.

Jumped on this bandwagon. Surprisingly, the rear view mirror line of sight really is not compromised. I’m 6’5” and worried that the angles, etc, would have a factor but rear view is great.

Bushranger X-jack, two blankets, puffy down jacket, and a rain coat all nicely tucked up on the shelf.

I will also say the OEM cargo light will be blocked (obvious!?!) and will affect night time lighting. Luckily I already have the National Luna led’s in the hatch, but worth noting.

Those are Escape Gear seat covers that I purchased from Equipt1. Highly recommend both the product and the MUD-supporting vendor ;)

More info on the covers here.
