Are the screws that go into the panel self tapping? I like the idea of the larger panel as well but there has to be a better way than screwing it into the panel.

Yeah, there's one 10mm bolt near the front of the large panel (just behind the 2nd row seats), just like they use for the smaller free version of the panel and then 2 self tapping screws that just go into the plastic panel in the rear. This alone is probably going to sway me to go with the smaller free option. It's a bit of a tough decision though as the discount they're offering on the large panel is pretty significant.

They have a separate video that shows how to install the larger panel on the new page for that panel:

Maybe one could place a rivnut in the rear lower mounting location(s) and changing from a screw to a bolt.

If the spacing between the 2 screws is sufficient so the 2 rivnuts don't interfere with each other, this might work well. I'm typically not a huge fan of rivnuts, but they might work well in this case as there's no concern about rusting (one of my big concerns with rock slider installations that require rivnuts) and it would be possible to get access to both sides if they lost their grip on the plastic and started spinning.

with a rivnut probably only need one anchor point.

I also received the email last night. Fantastic customer support on their part!

I'm kind of torn between the options. The larger panel is potentially more useful, but I don't really like how the rear screws just go into the plastic factory panel. If there's a need to remove and reinstall the panel a few times, those screws will get loose. I suppose the third option is to take no action, but I probably will go with either the free additional support or the larger panel. I'm interested in hearing what others are thinking before I make a final decision.
I looked at my Heritage today, we have the molded hump to accept the cargo bay cover, while the M10 machine screw is in the same place, that bump is in lieu of the cup holder. I just don't think the brace will fit.

Doh! That means neither option will fit without some extra effort. I'm too lazy to run down and look at mine right now, but is the M10 machine screw accessible on ours without drilling a hole (ignoring the bump for the moment)? One of my first mods was to take out the cargo bay cover as I always find those to get in the way and rarely have the desire to use them. Replacing the rear panels would be a rather expensive option and a fair amount of work too.

I suppose we could also get in touch with Kaon as 2 row LC's are available in AU (AFAIK) and should have the same issue.

Some hacking to do.

And I thought having to just drill the hole to access the M10 mount was bad....

I do love having the attic though.

I already tried to order mine and followed their link to open up a resolution case or something.
Is there any separate ordering page or link where I can order that side panels?
That's all I've done - file the order dispute on the original shelf purchase per their direction. Otherwise, I don't think you get the upgrade on a reduced or free rate.

Well I ordered the part and added a question to Kaon as to whether they were making a Mod for the 2-Row vehicles. Otherwise, I'll take the side rail kit and figure out a mod for the panel that is not totally distractive or I'll abort the installation. I use the shelf all the time, but its really only holding some light jackets, blanket, towel and first aid-kit. I wonder if its the hanging oven installation that's killing the mounts

I went with the free smaller panel as I don't like the idea of screwing into plastic. Anyone else notice the discoloration in the 2row insert? Please excuse the dog hair

Looks like about $45 a piece.

I'd probably just cut the piece off though, rather than spend $100 for a piece of plastic that will will be covered up by the panel anyways

Heritage Edition cup holder with the cargo bay cover interference. Could you remove that cup holder and replace with a base cup holder? Looks like the hole for the bolt will be exposed and no hacking that hump.
