Yes truly great Ranger that came over to visit our group. We only wished she drove a Landcruiser, but then everyone would want to be a Ranger-lol!!!! I hope Chris can post up some of his drone footage-gorgeous area.

How was the weather up there? I was fighting A/C issues here on Friday, heard it may have been toasty.

Thank you to all who contributed to the potluck by bringing food, eating food, and even helping to clean up food!

@Dimples was sorely missed in the management of the potluck but @Saddletramp and @murf helped a lot with their grilling expertise, thanks!

The run may of been warm but it was very pleasant in camp as long as you were in the shade. Early Sunday morning the clouds were lightly spitting with a nice breeze and required a little more blanket :D

We'd like to thank everyone for helping make Graham's first camping trip a success. The food was great, the location was awesome, and the weather was nice. Hopefully, Graham didn't wake up too many of you with his early morning squealing. After we left camp Sunday morning, we drove to Flagstaff and ate breakfast at Mike and Ronda's. Then stopped by the Farmer's market to walk off the giant biscuits.

^^^that's a biscuit coma if I ever saw one^^^. Really fun to see the little people gazing with eyes wide at the wonder of the great outdoors.

The ranger that arrived on Saturday was the LEO, sirens and ticket book included. Very nice and games us the full rundown on the truck she was driving, ran the red and blue flashing lights and demonstrated the sirens. In all it was a great experience with the forest service and we happily complied with the restrictions and had a great camp out.

Was the subject of 9011R not being on the travel map even discussed? Would be nice to know if this is just the current rangers in the area that are allowing travel on it or if it's a Coconino National Forest policy to allow travel. As far as I know there is no marked foot trail in that area for hikers who would use that as a camping spot. Seems a shame one of the best camping spots in Arizona has no reasonable 100% legal excess and on the travel map. Could understand if it was a ten mile stretch from the next closest legal road and hard to patrol but it's right off FS 231.:meh:

I promised everybody the location of the Mexican Market where the Pollo came from. It's the 'Carniceria Y Panderia El Oaxaqueno.
12005 NW Grand Ave, El Mirage. The guy does not speak one word of English. I guess that's your first clue that it's authentic Mexican Food.

Anyone pick up a hammock strap that I may have left due to my hasty to 9pm departure?

BTW, nice collection of pics!

Another solid ROTM with everyone working together for a most excellent time.

Yes we asked specifically about 9011R when speaking with Meg, she said she was familiar with the site and as long as the road was well established without tall vegetation in the center it was ok. The biggest concern was really having your vehicle no on vegetation tall enough to touch any hot components that might spark a fire.

When we showed Meg, the 2017 April version of the Coconino map (same one we got on our May run with you and Pitch) we noted that 9011R while not on the map did meet the criteria as laid out by the FS. I think our willingness to ask, displaying our understanding of the restrictions and gaining clarification on what constituted vegetation went a long way. We took the restriction seriously and had the same desired outcomes as the FS.

Maybe we lucked out twice but I think Mark and I asked all the right questions and we made sure our group followed the intent of the level 2 restrictions while enjoying a great site and the Coconino National forest.
