Mt Graham is a great mountain to camp on. It's more lush than the Catalinas, Santa Ritas or Rincons. I've backpacked a few areas up there and car camped a few others. Personally, I would think twice about a trailer unless it's a short/light trailer. The hairpin turns on the paved section are really tight and once it goes dirt, you're gonna slow down a lot. Then there's the issue of going down the mountain. It's a steep one. Keep the tranny in low.

I'll see about meeting you guys there. Maybe I'll ride up. I haven't hit that rock on the Vstrom yet.

We might be in on this one. We'll see how our little man does on the next several camping trips we have planned.

Might need to check with the Coronado folks, there may be some issues regarding the Frye Fire;
(We need some rain).

InciWeb the Incident Information System: Frye Fire

Looking at this map, the area is under closure.

This would have been a nice run to take my 70 FJ40. From 1970 until 2011 when I bought it had lived in the same carport in Safford.

Have the InciWeb app on my phone. Great for following all the fires. The Highline fire was not that close going by road but on staight line was close enough to home to be scary.

Thanks for posting as I was headed there for the 4th of July. That would have been a long drive to find out we could not camp...

I was just wondering where all the smoke was coming from. Things can change in a heartbeat, all we need is one good storm.

I believe the 22' restriction on RVs is due to the road up and not from a lack up space in any of the campgrounds.
I have a 21 ft light trailer I pull with my F250 Deisel do u guys think that would be ok???

I would not suggest that. But that's just me. The switch backs are tight and steep.

What's the back up plan for July trip? Chances of the fire being out by run is low.

Reddington Pass is also closed because of the Burro fire. Last I checked it was 20k acres and 0 containment. We need rain.

One of my favorite backpack destinations on Graham is right in the middle of all that fire. I have a really big sad right now. :frown:

Offering a suggestion for alternative, anyone interested in venturing into the Gila wilderness area just inside of New Mexico? We drove that way to Alpine and there seemed to be a few interesting areas! Near Alma?

Even once the fire is contained it will still take a while to mop up. Then with monsoon rains they will be looking at the possibility of flooding with the loss of all the vegetation. Don't know how close the camping area is to the fire or if the road leading to the area is in or below the fire. All those things will be considered before opening that area up.

Would that be at elevation for some cool camping temps?
