Jowett Performance Filter Housing with Fumoto drain valve

Great to hear folks are happy with it. If anyone is not, post up, I want to hear about that, too.

I have long been planning to produce a version that hits a better price point.

I frickin’ LOVE mine on the Tundra.

I need to either add a skidplate or down-grade from the Fumoto valve on the filter cap to the flush allen head bolt, but that’s a personal issue.

Glad I ponyed-up back then, no doubt.

I could use some help. I'm worried that my setup is not correct. I just changed the oil for the first time and had to use a cheater on the filter housing to get it loose.
The center metal tube was tight on the cartridge and popped off easily where I had to push it out of the cartridge with screwdriver.
I noticed that in the youtube video taken that there is an O-ring at the base of the tube mine does not have.
I had the dealer install this before I took delivery and am curious if it's right.

Do you mean the old filter was stuck on the tube?

there’s no o-ring on the metal tube - Just a spring under there.

- 18ft/lbs on the housing when going back into the engine. lubricate the new o-ring with a little new oil.
- 30ft/lbs on the drain plug.

correct, I did not do the conversion from the old housing to the new.
correct the filter was stuck on the tube. when I removed the filter the tube came off/out of the housing and I had to use a screwdriver to push the tube through the paper/plastic filter.
the new filter was also tight on the tube and when I put it back together the tube was put back in place with friction at the base.

I’m surprised the dealer would even touch these - and really the point is to make oil changes easier for you than letting some pimple-faced lube jockey anywhere near these (IMO).

I’d never expect the dealer would do this, let alone get it right.

As much $$ as these are, I don’t want anybody but me touching mine, and I‘ll take mine with mt when I eventually go to a 200 from the Tundra.

To your question, I don’t remember a o-ring, just bending the ears & installing the perf’ed metal tube - just the big ~2.75” one on the outer rim under the threads.

The two BJowett filter housings I’ve installed didn’t have an o-ring inside where it is pictured there.

No Oring inside. Just slide the filter element over the tube and reinstall, with a new Oring on the outside groove of the Jowett housing.

The o-ring doesn't go in there, but shouldn't cause any problems.

If the perforated tower pulled off the base/bypass valve with the filter, then the installer may have previously separated these during the swap. The tube can be restaked to the base to prevent this. Or a new one installed... I can find you one, if needed?

As for requiring a breaker/cheater bar... I have found no rhyme or reason as to why these occasionally jam up. Certainly, over tightening is one reason, but I've had many a properly torqued stock cap jam up. That was the original reason to design this... always removable!

Changed the oil today and what a great experience with the Jowett setup (not one drop on the floor)...to make it even better, I added this extension to the unit.

I’d buy one & leave a chunk of hose w/ it.

I like the Fumoto, but on my Tundra I always am scared w/ my lift & lack of plates I’m going to sheer it/dump the oil.

I almost want to retro-grade to the Allen bolt, then it’s pil change time & I forget it due to Fumoto ease...

Although I do have bud built skids and I see that some people have a right angle attachment? Should I have ordered a different part?

Nope. You'll be good to go.

EZ Drain now runs out of the old Fumoto location in Redmond Washington. Fumoto moved operations to California. No one will quite say how involved they are, as evidenced by the post above. The EZ is an improved Fumoto, and it is very well made.

Unfortunately, the EZ-Drain is manufactured in China... and that is something I've been internally battling since the beginning. I do not like supporting the CCP and their practices. However, the fact is, the EZ is simply the better valve for the job. There is simply no way the fiber washer of the Fumoto will withstand the sealing duties required here. I don't want anyone on the side road with a leak, or worse.

Perhaps, with the world as it is today, the time has come to revisit supply chains and such.

Remove the oil cap and it will drain faster

I did my oil change yesterday. I gave it 10 minutes to drain, easy to see the oil draining inside clear hose and when it stopped. No muss, no fuss.

Just purchased the 6 pt socket to remove/install the housing from the Jowett website. Should have bought this when I bought the filter housing.

Hot Damn! I just changed oil and filter for the first time since I installed the Jowett Filter Housing with Fumoto valve and the Fumoto valve with hose on the oil pan.

The most pleasurable oil changing experience I've had in 40 years! I almost wanted a cigarette afterwards and I don't even smoke!

Received my Jowett Housing with all the fixings. Looking forward to the next change. I have one clarification question. I have the ez drain valve for both the Jowett Filter housing and the Oil Pan. Do I use a new washer that you normally would with the normal drain bolt for the oil pan when installing the ez valve to the oil pan? I ordered a few of these when I ordered my TRD filters just in case (cheap). Also, just to confirm you only use the large rubber o ring shown in this thread on the Jowett housing? Don’t use any other o ring that comes with the TRD filter? I understand how to remove the old plastic filter tube and install in the Jowett filter housing and the main large o ring on the Jowett housing. Thanks for the help.
