So im looking at adding a 2nd cruiser to my fleet but the rear tub is in bad shape so ill likely go with a 3/4 tub from aqualu but im curious how it joins up to the steel cowl?

It bolts to the floor and A pillar. They have a video and install manual on the site.

Ahh ok that makes sense.

Thanks ill look into it further

When I acquired my '78 FJ40 it had a 3/4 Aqualu tub installed. Just as Jdc1 stated you cut the body from the front cowl. Attaching a picture of the cowl on the frame without the tub so you can see what needs to remain. . .

Yah makes more sense now i was just not sure where to cut along that joint where the rocker meets the pillar

Cut back further than you think you'll need, that way you can trim it to where has to be during fitting. It's intimidating to cut your original metal, but it's actually pretty straight forward.

I painted both the A pillar and the flange on the tub before bolting mine together. Also make sure to use a good layer of the silicone between the two surfaces. You want to make sure they don't interact. I think the tub comes with bolt hole to attached on the top but I added a second one on the bottom. Haven't add any issues with mine.
