Build JJY93's 1988 Bj74 Build.

Yeah as BobBJ74 said its a pto winch activated by a lever in cab and the speed goes by what gear you select, Mines an Auto i dont know what the name of the box is.

Yesterday we tidied up the front ready for the bar to be made, Gave it all coat of flat black.

Then we dropped the diff out ready for the swivel hubs and bearings to be done today, We are also moving the diff forward 24mm, Removing the swaybar, Putting in the Efs lift springs and changing to Bilstein 5125 shocks with pin to eye adaptors. Heres some pics of yesterdays progress.

Haha Im 18 and my brother who's giving me a hand is 20 luckily no wives Oh and theres a steady diet of Redbull, Jimbeam and Corona in this shed! Main reason its getting done quick is im on a licence suspension for another month and a bit due to defects on my other car haha.

IMO keep the front swaybar you dont really loose flex and it makes the car much better offroad. Ditch the pin to eye adapters, they are a compromise and will limit your shock size and flex, put in new shock towers if you must use the billies.

im not going to throw the sway bar away ill see how it goes with and
without it an workout what i prefer more, the pin to eye adapters
were just an idea that my brother told me this is my first
fourwheeldrive so im learning im not sure as to what brand shocks
im going to stick in it.

i cleaned up and painted the efs leaves and also stripped the diff ready for a wire wheel an some paint

also this is pic of my brother thats helping mes hilux i plan on
making the cruiser bigger and better than this, he always has better
stuff than me so i have to make my cruiser more capable than this

LOL dont sweat on it. The 73/74 series is probably the toughest there is,others maybe faster,but you will always be going home under your own steam(as long as you dont do nothing stupid)
Yours will be a bit more dent proof than what your brother has

Yeah the only thing he has on the cruiser is diff clearance

I gave the diff a quick wire wheel this arvo came up alright

Also ordered a pair of rancho shocks for the front and new brake lines
I want to pull the diff center out and give it a clean but I'm afraid I'll go out an buy a locker if I open it up

Tomorrows plans are to paint the diff and clean all the parts and reassemble with the new hub seals and bearings and get the old steering dampener off an quickly wire wheel and paint the steering arms and front portion of the chassis and get the leaves half in ready for the diff to go back in

Nice, man. I had a stocker EH back in the day. Grey/white roof with red interior.

Is that twin single throat strombergs as per 179HP blocks I see?

It's a nice colour mate, really straight too.

Yeah it's got twin strombergs but the engines just a normal 179 with headers to a 2.1/4" exhaust with a celica 5spd gearbox

Wow twin strombergs Cops use to put us off the road if they caught us running them in the
70s,too much power they reckoned.
That car is about is about 3 1/2 times your ageLOL

Did a heap of cleaning up today cleaned all the bits for the diff ready for Saturday to throw it all together and back in then move the cruiser to my work so I can start on the bar, rock sliders and rear bar an get the exhaust done

Anyway a few pics of the parts I've painted

And also got a fitting to go into the diff breather thread and am going to run the breather higher than the stock position
