The title is "300 Landcruiser Engine Failure" under the Engine Care channel.
Could not figure out how to attach--sorry---maybe someone else can.
That’s the diesel engine.

Oil weight will not impact your transmission programming.

I was thinking in the Torsen transfer case. Something is jerky in these.

But yes! The programming is horrendous in these transmissions. I have read Tundra programming isnt like this so it makes me think it has something to do with a derate ‘trans safe’ type of tune.

Brad, maybe you can come up with an oil cooler retrofit to solve the problem.
Already have all the hard parts in the barn, as I recently designed a system for the supercharged 2GR-FKS in my Tacoma. Easy to transfer the design over to the V35A or T24A.

Just curious, what criteria qualifies this failure as "confirmed"?

Mechanical failures and lemons do happen. Even with Toyotas.

Has there been a "confirmed" failure of an LX produced after the dates in the recall period?

Has there been a --single-- "confirmed" failure of a GX550?
Yes. I’ve seen the GX550 torn down at Lexus of Austin when my 2023 LX was towed in for what I thought Was the same issue. They said it was just a TSB that needed to be done on ECM. Mine was outside of the recall and had 35,000 miles. I drove it to a Toyota dealership and got a land cruiser. I wasn’t about to chance it anymore with the driving I do.

Perhaps let's use this as an opportunity to discuss oil weights. GCC LC300s have a wide range of allowable oil weights, including 5w-30 which we may recognize from the 100 series:

And in Australia (LX600 Petrol):

The USA owner's manual is more limited in "allowable oil weights:"

Well 5-30 or 5-20 it will be, thanks for the information!! And I just used my free complementary service at lexus so no loss on my part. Maybe drop it at 3,000 and just do the oil.

I live in a warmer climate.

higher second number is more important...

I will be going to 5-30 in the next couple thousand miles,, or sooner if I have some free time.

I should have 5W30 in mine sometime this week.

Its crazy they don’t give us an option here. MPG regs I guess, need that .X of an mpg to meet CAFE standards.

Good news is 0-20 is allowed in those other markets so I am probably fine for now as I don’t have any issues, yet.

I am worried if I get shot bearing and dealer determines it was 5w30 at time of failure they could deny warranty.. might have to wait until 70k

Its a known issue.

Just dont post any receipts on Carfax, just notes.

I dont think even blackstone testing can tell the weight??

I think you indicate wich oil it is and they put expected ranges in report. So if 5w30 used and they put 0w20 ranges it will be better reports because of less breakdown? I have no clue

I dont think blackstone or equivalent lab tests the viscosity?

Edit I mean I dont think Toyota would figure it out…

blackstone can give an indication of expected viscosity after x miles...
toyota are not gonna go that deep on the oil analysis, since they figure its the machining debris anyways, still dont tell them, and go buy 0w20 and return it just to have a receipt if you feel the need

Coming from an LX, I certainly hope you got a 200 and not a Prado.
Got the Prado. Had an LX570 before and thought about going back but wanted new. Actually really like it. 1958. It’s just simple and the cloth seats are a nice change of pace. It’s been fun to modify/personalize without thinking of resale, etc.
