Any updates on the 2UZ-FE turbo-intercooler? The one optimized for the 2000 to 3000rpm range?

Robbie got the one custom bent one from a firm out here in CA

Where would that be? I found http://www.turbochargers.com/TurboKits/StarterKits.htm but the manifold is a 2month process.

I looked at the engine compartment and it doesn't look to hard to get a nice thick cnc flange made, add some box tubing and make a box style log manifold A buddy of mine with a built eclipse (600hp) runs a box sytle log manifold. Should work pretty well in our rigs with forced induction???? Just throwing this out...i have no clue what i'm talking about.

Shocker,
I believe it is airlaird that would disagree with you.
From what I have read it is recommended to upgrade the valvebody on the trans if you go to a turbo or SC. You don't have to but some have had problems within 10-15k after install

ABSOLUTELY you need to upgrade your Valve Body!! Funny, how this has not been mentioned after five pages of thread the strain on your tranny and 2nd gear shift. Believe me it is needed. There is no getting around it....That alone is 800.00 to $900.00. So tack this on to any Turbo Kit. Don't get me wrong..I may one day get a Turbo..i've only got 86,000 miles on it. But I know the Valve body needs to be upgraded.

ARB Polo Group Buy! PM me.

Well, I've got over 70k on my original tranny since turbo install with no problems.

Again, over 70k with no problems, a friend with over 50k also has had no problems and so far i do not think I have heard from anyone here with the turbo and tranny problems? Did I miss something? Not arguing, just asking.

I have a big prob with the blower, it took out 2nd gear, caused a long 1-2 shift under power. Don't underestimate the trans, now is the time to get the valve body, while you don't have a problem. Once you have a slipping shift, the clutchpack is smoked and you are out up to 3k for a shop to rebuild it.
Learn from my mistake. please.

Well I should'nt have made such an absolute statement...I have 35's on my trruck...Turbocruiser only has 33's. I think the extra "meat" on mine AND my racing punks in my earlier days of the S/C hurt. So, IF you have 35's I think you MUST have a Valve body job. Rainy Day, did you get yours fixed??

ARB polos group buy..last week.

Well there is a bit of a saga. The "used" trans that I purchased from cruiser parts.net I installed over yesterday and the day before, has perverbily s*** the bed before the install. It has no reverse, every other gear works except reverse, it won't even move on flat ground. It works worse than the slipping trans that was in there. end of rant. I will call them on monday and see what they say.. I will not be swapping the thing again, I had to do it on the concrete garage floor, and it kicked my butt. I will eather have a shop do the swap back, or have the trans that is on the floor now rebuilt. I really don't want to spend more $ on the POS trans but have NO other choice..Hind site would be to have level 10 or importperformance trans build me a trans. As it is I am out 1k for the used trans with no reverse in my truck and a core trans.. I don't want to publicly bang on cruiserparts.net cause I need to call them, then I don't have to watch my comments........

can someone tell me why you cant just slap on a turbo from a supra?

that may be a stupid quesion but i have heard they are similar engines
they go for under 500 on ebay

Similar in that they're both I6; after that, they're not very similar.

Normally I won't post anything bad about a vendor. No particular reason - it's just me. Level 10, however, was so horrible and cost me so much money that I go out of my way to make sure that people know how slimey they are.

I had level 10 build me a A440 valve body and torque converter and send me their special clutch kit. I sent them my cores. They told me 2-3 day turn around. And then the lies started. First they sent me a 340 clutch kit. When the shop doing the rebuild noticed the mistake I called and they said they would ship the correct kit over night that day. A day went by. Then another. Then another. I called them - they never sent it. I told them to forget the clutches and had my shop put a good high quality kit in. The 2-3 days turn around for the valve body and torque converter never happened. Try a about 2 week while the truck sat in the rebuilders shop. This was the first time of several that they used the "UPS lost it" line.

OK, so things happen, I understand. Finally got the truck running. They tranny builder wasn't happy with the valve body at all. I figured how bad could it be. Well it was a little firm but not bad at all. And then it tried to lock up the torque converter. In and out, in and out the lock up went at 1 second intervals at any point above 50 mph. After several weeks and phone calls back and forth with the owner and manager (during which time they kept telling me to check the tranny computer - I knew I was in trouble at this point) they sent me to another tranny builder in their "system" to check the problem (they were sure it was in the tranny and not the valve body). The 2nd builder agreed that it was the valve body. So level 10 finally agrees to build a new one. 6 months of constant phone calls before I got the new valve body. Bear in mind that the truck isn't really driveable during this time. It's just one excuse after another. They really like to blame UPS when they can't meet their deadlines - don't fall for this.

When the 2nd valve body finally shows up we slap it in and it does the same thing. Level 10 swears up and down that it can't be their valve body and must be the tranny. I discuss it with the original builder and we pull the torque converter and send it to a local converter shop. They find that Level 10 didn't fix the broken lockup clutch seal when they rebuilt the converter. Level 10 refuses any compensation for screwing up the converter rebuild. But wait - the lockup comes in stronger now but it still won't stay locked up. The same problem is still there in the 2nd valve body.

I finally have the original builder - who has been more than patient with Level 10's BS - find a valve body core and have them rebuild and tweak it to get the shift quality that I want. That did the trick. I watched them work on the valve body so I know they didn't do anything else to the truck. This was purely incompetence on Level 10's part and beyond terrible customer service. My truck was down over 9 months while they strung me along telling me it would ship next week, then the week after, then the week after, then it was UPS's fault blah blah blah

I was always very patient with them and only lost my temper a couple of times. The last time I talked to them they said I was one of the better customers they usually deal with! But they never compensated me a dime for their crappy products. Learn from my pain - stay way from Level 10.
