Hello everyone. My 89 needs a new heart beat. I've had it with the 3fe. Parts are becoming harder to find. So, I'm now on the conversion train. I've been looking and looking and trying to find the right path and directions. Im set with using the Chevy 5.3/5.7 platform. However, I can't seem to find literature of everything else needed to make this work. What I'm looking for is a breakdown of all the parts needed and a general idea of the conversion process. Is there anywhere I can find this info? Any help would be appreciated. It's time to bring her back

Lots of ls swaps, just need to check them out. The only cruiser specific item will be the transfer case unless you swap to a center rear axle.

Manual trans? Nv4500 Auto? Probably 4l60e. I think there's adapters for both.

Custom engine and trans mounts, custom drive shafts, custom ish exhaust, everything custom.

There are a few good examples here and in the 80 forum i think.

How about a nice low end grunt of a Diesel?:clap:

I honestly am looking to do a decent swap that's not so pricey but at the same time I not gonna cut corners. Was thinking Chevy platform with an auto transmission. From what I've been told, I'm going to need the engine mounts, transfer case adapter, piggy back computer. The exhaust and drive shaft are the least of the issues. I'm more curious as to which combination of engine and transmission will work well. I had intensions of picking up an engine Trans Combo right from the scrap yard. What do you think?
