Well, the Covid made its way through our house and shut things down for a while.

got the inside sanded down, rustoleum base layer, then two more layers of sound deadening paint.

got this thin rubber mats from Lowes and put them down. Ive never driven it with the windows up so I’m not sure how well the sound stuff works really.

Ive put 150+ miles on it with no real issues. The rear output on the Tcase and PS is oozing some, but it drives really really great. Hits 70-80mph pretty fast and is a blast on dirt roads and fields.

Getting rear seal, front driveshaft, hubs, and a few little things done, and then go ride some short trails next few days

Had this winch and winch plate in my storage room from three Christmas’s ago. Never made it onto my sons 4runner before he sold it.

Original plan was to mount it below the frame and hide it like JMacks, but with the curve in the 80 frame and my “body lift” I think mounting on top filled that gap better and it sits about 3” father back too

4x2x1/4 tubing. Tried to make it blend into the angle of the snout some.:meh: I went ahead and welded it on. I can’t think of a time when I won’t want a bumper or winch. It all fit together so well.

a synthetic line and low profile fair lead will clean it up some too.

got a lot of the fab work done for the rear, but ran out of time shuffling two kids in sports around.

Got rear bumper mostly done. I want to build some sort of rear 1/4 protection. Haven’t decided what yet. Need a 90* drill for the last bolt hole on both sides and some braces/box in plates.

Going to paint this silly gas tank black. Really need to order my skid plate material.

more C- to B+ welding pics for your enjoyment!

Pigs in the wild!

i think I have my ‘69 pig sold to a good friend’s son. He drives a ‘77 Hilux now and is moving to Montana to work. His first time ever locking in hubs was on the ‘69. He’s hooked!

I have to extend my rear bump stops asap! Body eating the tires.

have a little driveline vibration. Not tires. Probably getting some adjustable rear upper links and play with pinion angle. My rear DS is much shorter than an 80 and i have about a 3-4” lift if it was on an 80.

Somebody smarter than me...

have a vibration:
-Feels like driving on mud tires, but it’s not the tires.
-rear DS is shorter than stock and I have about a 3-4” lift.
-Tcase and rear output flange are within 2* parallel of each other
-mostly goes away at speed with clutch pushed in
-worst under hard acceleration, some under decel
-new motor mounts
-new Tcase mounts
-new body mounts

-is it worth getting adjustable rear upper control arms to play with pinion angle? $$
-I know the DS is still spinning in neutral, but it’s not under a load

-or more likely all the new mounts are tight and just translating into the body?

its not bad, but would like to fix it. Not sure where to start or how to test it.

Sounds like driveshaft angle, is your within 2 degrees up or down at the pinion? The torque is going to push the pinion up so the pinion should be 2 degrees nose low

Up.

The rear flange is about 4* up and Tcase is about 5* down, almost parallel.

It makes the most since that it’s the DS and lift. Its still spinning with clutch in, but no power to it, and like you just said, with no power, less twist on the pinion!

and if it was motor mounts, just revving it up in neutral would translate to the body too.

the A10 is the only fixed wing I’ve ever wanted to fly! BBBBBBRRRTTTTTT! Loved it when I was on the ground. Love my rotary wing mission too.

Did some more driveline research.

Tcase and pinion are almost parallel and within 2*, but the diff still needs to rotate down. They need to 2* away from each other essentially. So it’s really like they are 4* off.

I is so smart:hillbilly:

Slee upper control arms shipping today.

I was a young Lt awaiting pilot training assigned to the 66th rescue squadron (blackhawks) while awaiting pilot training. I got to fly a bunch of flights with those guys, they even let me shoot miniguns a few times. Then we did a csar and after seeing the A10's strafing underneath us I knew that A-10's where what I wanted to fly. They where awesome, great dudes, great airplane, and great mission. I miss flying them all the time. Now flying F-35's and although interesting my favorite will always be the hawg. Awesome build you have going

Have to catch up this thread::

Just getting ready for SSS...

x2 6.5” speakers in the front doors and x2 6”x9”s in the back work great for this truck. Only one of these old “Realistic” was working before.

put the radio in the center console with the idea of getting a stock radio in the factory spot

throwing in the 35” spare, I was very glad the speakers came with a cover. Instantly hit it. Need a swingout carrier, but not before next Thursday (—> 2 weeks ago?)

Let’s see.

The day I wired up the radio was 6 days into sitting in hospice watching my father in law die. I may have been drinking too much that night and not wire in a fuse....

This lead to the wire chafing, grounding out, and a small electrical fire, melting the floor mats, and filling the cab with smoke on the way to the SSS in Arkansas. Almost became the FryingPig instead of the FlyingPig. It was exciting.
