No they didn't. IIRC, but could be mistaken, these blocks are good for 2-3 top end rebuilds, per my mechanic. My wallet was open - so if it was necessary, I'm pretty sure he would have suggested it.

My experience is that opinions vary on that. It definitely wasn't a criticism. I was just curious.

I totally agree! I've read many conflicting opinions - but when push came to shove, I went with my experts suggestion. No offense taken - I love a good debate. Unfortunately I don't have much to add to this debate based off pure ignorance. What little knowledge I have has come through conversation and not experience.:frown:

I love the drawers. Do they match the height of the seats when folded?

Is your buddy interested in making more?

Thanks! Yeah they do match the middle row height for sleeping if need be.

I'm not sure if he is interested. He was gun ho at first, but his work situation has improved, so who knows. He built another MUD member's box too, Overlander 80, who has some different features than I. Check it out here...

Mike,
This build thread is going to inspire quite a few on this forum. What has taken you a couple of months has taken me a couple of years to do and now I have to play catch-up (SC and drawer system). It's nice to see someone with the motivation (and cash :flipoff2:) to move this quickly with a build. This has been an entertaining and informative thread, keep it up! With what seems to be the demise of ROTW, It's fun to see these new rig build threads. Maybe I will do one soon on my rig.

update - Operation: Get the funk out

The carpet in my rig is jacked. It stinks and the PO let a battery leak and burn the felt off the carpet in the rear. They smoked and had burn holes under the driver seat. After researching and looking into buying new carpet throughout, I came the the conclusion that it would be a waste to spend $600-800 on fresh clean carpet and then take it to the desert. So I bought a used pressure washer off CL for $180 and started ripping seats and carpet out.

Then I laid down some MightyMatt for the floor and some sound deadener on the wheel wells and rear quarter-panels. The truck is so much quieter at highway speeds. I can actually have a conversation with my :princess: without yelling so she can hear.

then I added a little more armor...

This plate is heavy and I couldn't do it by myself. A mud member helped me with the install of the IPOR skid plate, thanks Sam!

Did you remove the batting from the back of the carpet?

The PO of my truck had dogs and there is all kinds of nasty in the carpet. I even have some gross green mold around the console and shifter bezel so this is high on my list.

Thanks PoorHouse - great name btw.

I didn't remove the OEM carpet pad/ insulation but did wash it gently.

Great thanks! Just need to wait till the rainy season is over up here so I can do this and let it dry in the sun.

Trucks looks great by the way, how was the Slee A/C condenser plate install?

I am definitely going to need to do this once I finish all the grinding and welding. There is gunk everywhere. If you want to recoup some of your cash I will rent that pressure washer from you in a month or two.:D

HID update

a pressure washer party!?!

Check out what I just did...
I bought them off a MUD guy and he hand delivered them. Installed them and grabbed a bite to eat. Thanks for the great deal and help Sal!

I thought these might be a little too blingy for me, but they look good IMO. Not my first choice (JDM retro fit HID) but my OEM's had some broken brackets that made them shake down the highway.
