Looks good - I once heard the excuse given to a spouse that it increased the safety of the vehicle, too. Works for me... everytime a get a picture of the truck crossing a stream I show her how the snorkel just paid for itself!

The Prius got new rubber - replaced the old ones at 98K! Not shabby mileage. And thanks again for securing those items for me.

Have a good trip to CO if I don't hear from you earlier. We expect pictures of the truck fording some streams... but tell the brown water Sailor to take it easy - it ain't a self-righting MLB.

beno,

I will look at the window sticker and see what it says.

This wouldn't be the main window sticker, but a smaller white one that only you are allowed to take off which states the quantity of parts of the vehicle and where they are made. Also gives plant information.

I'm trying to figure out why Toyota is no longer sending Yoshiwara produced LC's to the US market and sending only Tahara manufactured rigs.

The LX570 is still made at Yoshiwara and is the only factory producing these rigs.

Thanks!

JB,

How is your truck holding up to the off-roading? Any issues? What is your thought on your Nitto Terra Grapplers (275/70R18)?

sbly

No issues really. I've only had minor issues like a steering pump failure from sliding down a mountain in a mud rut while it was raining (scary as hell, but the rut was the safer way than trying to avoid it). Allowed the truck to steer itself down the rut like a roller coaster, which damaged the steering pump (replaced under warranty).

The only other issues I've had were internal such as an A/C failure due to where the dealership placed my Sirius radio boxes in the way of the mechanical recirc system. This was also right near the GPS receiver which caused some very strange GPS behavior. All fixed now.

I'm also having an issue with my ARB rear locker not locking immediately and spitting oil from the top of the solenoid. Oil is somehow getting into the air system. I need to find time to have this looked at, but is most likely do to a failing o-ring. Any other ideas???

Other than that everything else is great now!

I love the Nitto tires. I've never had any issues with them. I do like the look of the BFG's with more sidewall traction, and also wish the Nittos would work at a lower PSI better, but really no complaints. I'll most likely go with them again. When running them at anything lower than 20PSI, I've literally had my rim almost touching a rock as the tire completely pinched flat, but luckily didn't blow out.

I'm sure the oil issue is from a failing o-ring. The locker should still engage but as the o-ring gets worse you'll notice the ARB air compressor cycling more often.

I'm going to have someone look at it. I don't do differentials -- it's an art so I hear.

Any idea what replacing the faulty o-ring takes? Does the whole differential have to be taken out of the housing and re-set up again? If so I'm looking at a $400 labor fee just to fix a <expletive> o-ring!

I just got back from 4 days of driving the trails in the Ouray area. We were able to drive Shrine Pass, Hagerman Pass, Red Mountain, Corkscrew Gulch, California Gulch, Clear Lake, Last Dollar Road, Forest Road 550 and Forest Road 558. As far as the 200 goes, the only issue was a blown rear brake light in the ARB bumper.
But the other items that came up:
1. The Hi-lift shovel/axe/pick combo tool did not perform as well as I would of liked, it turned out to be a pain to use while trying to get the ARB roof rack under a fallen tree. Who carries a chain-saw and which one?
2. The Garmin GPS suction cup mount fell off the windshield multiple times, time to look into a Ram Mount, does anyone currently use a Ram Mount?
3. The Scepter MFC was a pita to remove from the ARB gas can holder even after bleeding off the pressure. How and where do you carry your MFC spout?
4. And can someone please explain to me how a 10 pound dog can vomit 12 pounds of garbage in the back of my truck.
5. The Adventure Trailer drawers have started to squeak during interstate driving.

The trip wouldn't be complete without "Doesn't your 4 Runner get scratched on the rocks".

Great pics! Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate someone who will give real, honest reviews of their experiences. Keep the trip reports coming!

How many miles do you have on that thing?

And, are your hi-lift mounts these? You say they are slipping? Just wondering as I was thinking about getting some.

jetstream,

When you start your mods, if you have any questions feel free to ask. But to be honest with you, my first call would be to the guys (Cam / Vince) at Iron Pig Off Road if I had a technical question. But don't forget to take a look at all the detailed posts that JBHorne has posted, I used a lot of his information to get me headed in the right direction.

LuiserCruiser91,

A lot. But hey, no kids, no drugs, no ex-wife, so no problem.

A guy from the Great Smokey Mountain Trail Ride posted a video of the truck on one of the trails. YouTube - $100,000.00 Land Cruiser on the trail.

Thanks man. I know I'll have lots of questions.

Great updates!

pegasis,

I have about 26k right now, but will be doing a Labrador / Newfoundland trip in the very near future.

Those are the Hi-lift mounts that I have. To be honest with you, after I took off my skirt, found my spine and used my man hands to tighten them down they have work just fine. No slipping after the TN, PA and CO trips.

1. Chain Saw, an Echo or a Stihl, cant go wrong with either, but I hear Stihl has a slight edge in quality. That said, my Echo has been trouble free for ~3 years now.

2. I have a RAM mount in our boat, for the Lowrance. They are well made products. It hasn't shook lose in two years of pounding on the water, or been source of any problems, they have a great PC finish too. Cant help you with 200 specific stuff, they make about a million different mounts

3. IDK

4. IDK

5. Clean and lube??

FWIW, this is the RAM mount in my boat

The 200 without the RTT.

If you are wondering, removing the tent with your wife is like herding cats or pushing sand thru a screen with your tongue. It can be done but it's going to take awhile.

Sbly

My friend and I have 2 LC 200 with the RTT and to removed them, we agree to meet and do the work together. We are both above 6'2 and 200 pounds, and I can tell you that it's not a an easy job to avoid scratching the paint...

We just got back from a 4,659 mile (15 day) Labrador / Newfoundland and Nova Scotia trip. This included a few Ferry trips and a return trip to Baie - Comeau after a trip member had an accident with the tractor-trailer. The Disco I was totaled but both driver and passenger were ok. Here are a few notes on the Cruiser from the trip, I am all ears to any suggestions or ideas to improved any issue that I have.

1. Both the driver / passenger rear brake and turn signal lights went out many times. When the bulbs are inserted and rotated in placed, it appears that the rear of the bulb will not maintain contact with the flat silver bars inside of the light housing. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the flat silver bars toward the rear of the bumper, but the bulbs still lose contact with the bars on rough roads. I am on my second set of bulbs for both sides, and still having the same issue.
2. I ended up charging extra handheld radios with the AC 115v outlet while we were driving. The issue was that the charger plug would fall out during rough roads. We made it work but I need a type of retention system that holds the charger plug in place while driving on rough roads/trails.
3. When the RTT is open I am currently using 2 bungie straps to secure the rolled-up RTT cover, so it's out of the way of the passenger door. I am looking at alternate methods to secure the rolled-up RTT cover.
4. It appears that my front ARB bumper has tilted left. The bumper now has a measurement of 1.2cm on the driver side and 2.4cm on the passenger side.
5. The front end is out of alignment once again, but I figured that would happen.
6. While on the last unpaved mile of the Labrador Hwy, with the pavement in sight, I thought I had dodged a bullet, or in this case a rock. But as luck would have it, I took a rock in the center of the drivers side of the windshield. Oh well I expected it anyway.
7. With a gross vehicle weight of 7,900 lbs I might look at getting a heavier rear spring to help with the additional weight while on our trips. Any one currently running the heavy ARB springs?
8. The Toyota navigation system was missing a few of the more remote county and state roads in Canada. For about the first 50 miles after leaving Labrador city the GPS had us off the Hwy running both parallel and perpendicular at times. Hwy 520 from Goose Bay to North West River and a portion of Hwy 510 from Goose Bay to Port Hope Simpson was missing, just to name a few.
