Hello Cottonland Cruisers! My name is Austin Toler and I am from Madison MS. I am currently a student at MS College, so I'm in Clinton right now.
I don't own a Land Cruiser, but I do own a 1986 Toyota Pickup. I guess that would make me a "half-breed" of sorts in a Land Cruiser group, but a Toyota guy is a Toyota guy, right?
I bought my Pickup around October 2014 and have been in the process of restoring it ever since. It was falling apart when I bought it, so I've rebuilt the engine and just about everything else between it and the road. It's not an immaculate restoration, but about as good as I could do in my parents' driveway with my limited tools, skills, and funds. It was just painted in December, and now all I have left is the interior, and other "accessories."
It's on an OME 2" lift with 33' BFG KO2's. I'm running 4.88 gear with an ARB locker in the rear (black friday sales got me on that one) It's a 22R with a 5speed. I fully desmogged the 22R and and am running a Weber 32/36. I am currently thinking about switching to a Weber 38; the 32/36 just isn't really doing it for me... The engine is bored .30 over with a larger cam and a header and 2.25" exhaust. For a 4 cylinder, it gets around alright.
I don't come from a family of auto enthusiasts and when starting out knew no one who did anything with cars. So I jumped into this and learned just about everything I know from the internet (mainly Yotatech) and repair manuals. It's been a long journey, but I'm happy that I took on the project. I always say that if I knew what I was getting into when I started, I don't know if I would have ever bought the thing...
Anyway, sorry for the long winded post, for those of you that have made it this far... haha. Here are some pictures of the truck
