Back on topic (not that I'm not enjoying where this thread has headed)...

An issue with rear LED taillamps is that, while they provide margninally better light to the direct rear, the light they shine to the side isn't as good as a standard tailamp.

LED's are more of a 'directional' light than a regular bulb. You might get more attention from behind you, but that guy about to T-bone you has less warning than before.

Me...I don't care if it's clear or colored lenses, I just like the low draw of LEDs.

And the quicker reaction when you step on the stop pedal...

Just like the insurgence of 100 owners in the 80 tech section spawned a devoted 100 tech section, I see a need arising for a bling section.

Of course it might need to be linked to babblefish for the rest of us to understand the posts :flipoff2: .

receives my coveted "best post of the day" award.

congrats!

Hmmmmmm

Hmmmmmmm.... NickyDeNick's cruiser looks very very much like what XL-TREME's cruiser would have looked like before the bling-a-thon. Are we missing something here XL_TREME ?

Who really cares if they are the same person? So what? If that's how they want to get attention, then let them do it.

At least they're driving Land Cruisers, and not civics.

Lighten up guys.

Wooo..what's wrong with you guys. It is just a coincidence that some people joined the forum at the same time and they have similar truck and people get funny!! Lx is just a guy trying to share his nice found and some interesting bling bling goodies, why get so personal  grow up man!! :D

Just having some fun with the newbie and his interesting marketing tools - nothing personal. :flipoff2:

The demographics of the 80's group

The newer guys should note that there are a few guys on board that rub most others the wrong way. It's not intentional, but that's want bothers them the most.

Most of the guys here are upper middle class professionals, with little to know patients for teenagers with rich parents, dumbasses, and bling bling. This is primarily an offroad bunch or and they are not stereotypical SUV owners. They have a lot of class and integrity (for the most part) and they don't need to have patients for the 3 types of user mentioned above. Those types do not fit in well, as you have noticed.

Unfortunately some of the core members of the group are relatively conservative. It may be age or demographics or race, not sure. Most are not into the urban scene of lowered cars, hip hop, and chrome. Not that there is anything wrong with that. They are more mature and family oriented, it's just not their thing.

To each their own personality, preferences, and pissing matches...

I think a dynamic forum is a great one... If one guy doesn't like bling, but another does -- to each his own.

I for one am not teenager with rich parents.... I just sold my '02 Bling Escalade for a '97 FJZ80 and haven't looked back. THere's always been something about the mystique of an LC that strikes my fancy... I'm an offroader who thinks LED/clear tail lights would look good... and the damage multiplier may cause more harm than good in some cases, but damn they can look good too.

Yup, I'm a noob. just my .02

A bunch of y'all need to seriously chill.

I do like how LX_TREME mod his, but that’s his rig and his alone, please don’t mix and match... and com’on, give him a break already... ;)

Anyway, once I’m done with mine later this year, I would have three pictures to show it to my family: my old plain-vanilla stocky LX450, my could-be bling-a-thon version, and my newfound “I-like-to-play-dirty” offroad version. :D

Wow!! You are making a lot of assumption here!! :frown: What is your defination of "upper middle class professionals" and all the "teenagers with rich parents, dumbasses, and bling bling"?!! You do not know us and just judge us that way, seems like you are the "impatience" and IMMATURE one here!!! Anyone who likes a led tail light doesn't mean that they are "teenagers with rich parents" ok!! If you dun like it, that is your problem. Do not simply address such a "friendly" remark!! And I am not into lowered scene or anything like that, I ve been wheeling with my highly modified 4runner at some the most extremely trails that people stay away. We are here to learn and share, not to "accuse"!

Ranma21:

Don't think aamigga was accusing. I think he was just trying to give you a sense of the forums and its members--check out the title of the post: "demographics"

I think he's partially correct, though not completely.

In any event, there is a certain amount of 'ribbing' and 'hazing' that occurs here and there is indeed a learning curve, rhetorically, so to speak. Generally, it's best to sit back, observe and see how others address each other and how people interact. That should give you a good gauge of your own rhetorical presence here.

Enjoy and welcome! :flipoff2:

Best.

ranma21...

beno is right about aamiggia's comment. The choice of certain wording might not be the best but nonetheless, somewhat acceptable in its unique perspective but could have easily offended anyone else as well. So just imagine this, if this was some ghetto related forums, anyone with those words would have been squashed a long time ago. ;)

Anyway, let's focus on the necessary upgrade for the coming trip.

I'll repeat...

A bunch of y'all need to seriously chill.
