I'm trying to figure out where the tribal land is from Sycamore to Needle Rock that spoke about is.

Needle Rock and the area South of it is pay rec area.

I think the land on both sides of the Verde is tribal for some distance on either side of hwy 87. The trip I made came down from Sycamore, toward the Verde, and we crossed the river within sight of the hwy. We never went up river to the Needle Rock area. Maybe we're thinking of two different runs.

I think you are right on a different run. The run I'm thinking of starts a upper Sycamore and goes north up the wash for a little then heads up in a NW direction and go west and ends up at Needle Rock. For some reason the name Yellow Jacket or something like that comes into my head. Does mean anything to you?

Can't say I've heard of that one. Sounds possible, there's a lot of trails out there. Me and a buddy are going to pre run Rocker Panel Pass for our club out that way this Sunday.

I did an AzLCA/Motorola 4x4 run with you too, not sure if you remember me. I drove a Toyota mini truck and I was in front of you. Joe was the leader in that run.

If I am reading the topo correctly, the big wash at the far end of Sugarloaf/Sycamore is a trail that goes to Sheep Mesa. There it splits, the south trail goes across the rez. The north trail goes around Lone Mountain and turns west crossing the Verde and entering town north of the Mc Dowell Mountains?

Sounds exactly like what we are both remembering. I've never gone around Lone Mtn and then to the river.

Yes, tan truck. But I don't remember the trail name and the rain part. I remember Lucian's distributor got into trouble in the wash.
