Hello everyone

I moved out here to SoCal from Virginia in October. Military reassigned me to Edwards AFB. I Bought a place in Rosamond. I have had my FJ40 since '98/'99. I bought it while stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. It has followed me everywhere since. I bought a '91 FJ80 a couple years ago in Virginia, tuned it up, did some light mods, then had to pass it along to my parents before I moved out here. Unfortunately I never got to wheel it, and that bummed me out a bit. Recently I picked up a 1996 FZJ80 for a cheap price, and will be repairing the blown headgasket, and then performing a few mods. It's factory locked so that makes me happy. So here I sit with my old friend FJ40, that pretty much needs a trailer to get to most trails, and now this FZJ80 that I plan on using for trails I just don't want to load the truck and trailer up for. As it stands right now I have removed a couple items that are in good shape if anyone needs/wants these things make me an offer. Here is the list: Runningboards (OEM) in really nice shape, 3rd row tan leather seats (I don't think anyone ever sat in them), and the spare tire "winch".

Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself here. It will be a little while before I get this one back under her own power, but I am looking forward to it.

I don't know who it was, but someone in a nicely modded 80 passed me headed south on 99, while I was on the way back with this new toy on my trailer.

OOPS I didn't see the intro sticky! Sorry

Welcome:flipoff2:

You should try to make it to tommarows meet, should be fun.

Bring the 40. I love seeing 40s in action.

Let us know how the HG repair goes, and who will do the work on your head. I thinking of doing the HG as a pm, and I am looking for a qualified machine shop.

Nice to meet you.... welcome to the club...

post in the checkin thread with some pix and background... If you can try and make it out tomarrow.... later Ray...

I wish I could show up to the deal on Sunday, but I am taking a metal working class at Gene Winfield's shop in Mojave this weekend. Maybe next time.

As for the machine work on the head. I hear about a place in Lancaster that is pretty good. Somewhat close to me, so that's probably where I will take it. I plan on doing a few other PM items while I have the head off. Oil pan gasket, Injectors cleaned and balanced, and other stuff like that.

A desert Rat now!
I grew up out their in Ridgecrest and still have my immediate family their. My Dad goes to the classic car show in Rosamond, at the Tasty Freeze I think, a couple times a year. He is always ecstatic about the quality and number of classic cars that show.

Welcome, and I am tentatively planning a Death Valley trip for Thanksgiving so get that 80 running!
