Thanks for posting the pics Jeff, I've got to get another digital camera... The reason for the cage is to protect the two kiddos in back as Dad refuses to grow up and keeps doing stupid things trying to keep up with fj803fe(not easy). The pics show the cage pretty well, if anyone has any specific questions feel free to pm me. Basically it bolts together, is mounted through the floor, and has large backing plates on the underside. The tabs in the rear are intended for the rear tether on a childs seat, but will be used for a cargo barrier when the kids seats finally go away, great idea doc, whish I could say it was mine.

As far as price, I'll say that it was very reasonable, but I think Proffitts may want to charge a little more than I paid after seeing how much work it was, sometimes it pays to be first :flipoff2: . I'll let Jeremiah know about this thread so he can comment if he wants to.

man, that's really slick looking...one question, though. Why didn't they go all the way to the end of the rear windows to angle down to the floor? Was it just easier to install that way or what? Thanks

Too long a section without any supports is my guess.

Looks GREAT. Wouldn't work down here (Texas) blocking the AC vents like that, but that's probably not a big deal in CO.

that is super nice looking. But I am still a fan of the removable exo-cage.

Depends on what you're trying to achieve. A hard roll is going to cause damage to the body regardless, I've never seen an exo-cage on a wagon that would be strong enough to keep damage from happening, and exos add width to the truck, not always a good thing. Just my $0.02....

I followed an exo-caged 80 thru tellico and it saved that truck countless times. If it would not have had it . it would have came back looking like a crush beer can. Truly was amazing.

Here is a shot of it sitting on the cage while we strap some life lines to the cage to keep it from going over while it makes an attempt at gaurd rail. Coming down trail ten after hellicopter pad the truck was on his cage just about the whole time sliding across rocks...I know my 80 will be getting this treatmeant....Because Velveeta Wag does look like a beer can. :D

I don't doubt that the exocage is in many ways a better answer for a dedicated trail rig, but this is my daily driver.

I'm also much more concerned about the passengers inside the car than the body damage, which you could plainly see if Jeff had posted a picture of the drivers side of my truck.

that is a nice cage, Jon.
Al, drive up here and we will tube up the Cheezwag!
here is an internal cage I did in a FZJ80 that rolled.

Nahh Velveeta wag already looks like a beer can. Wait til you see it at GSMTR06...If you got two rads laying around one for Velveeta and one for my Fj80...I would be most greatful(Pm me on how much ya want). I am stoked to wheel GSMTR agian with you guys...make sure ya kick Gosh is the ass to get working on his 60 for tellico. Either than that I will be there with a butt load of spare parts....

Hope to see you over thanksgiving...

Hasta,
-Al

P.S. I have also seen that cage...super super nice.

Exo's are a waste of time. VERY rarely, do they actually help keep the body in one piece. Typically they end up beating up the body. For a trail rig, just start cutting ;)

Nice cage work :)

I have to go with lowtide on this one. I like the Exo cage...the internal is cool and all, but I would feel safer with that cage on the outside. Imagine having your hand up on the cage as you were riding and it rolling and possibly crushin your hand between the cage and iniside of the cruiser. Plus I'm a tall guy and would have a hell of a time squeezing in my rig with that roll bar on top. But none the less a cool set up, just prefer the exo here.

I'm not disagreeing with you about the exocage, but I'm 6'3" and the cage is not in the way at all.
