I'm in India for business, and while here I couldn't help but notice the amount of decently outfitted 4x4's (now mind you, I doubt that any of these people wheel that hard). After making inquiries, I have found out that there are quite a few markets around Delhi that have/make accessories and things. So tomorrow I am going to shopping around for Jerry cans, a roof rack, maybe even a ladder.
Would anyone be interested in any of these things? I will post pictures as I find things, because you never know what you are going to find in these places.
Does anyone have dimensions to look for in a roof rack, width at the very least? I'm going to try and find someone with an HDJ that perhaps I can rent for the day to try parts, but no guarantee.

And to cover the shipping aspect, I have a container coming for work in september that I've gotten permission to ship some things in.

Hopefully I can get some decent feedback!

Soo... how much space will be available in this container?! And I'm curious what you do for a living that requires a shipping container in India...
Looking forward to seeing what you find over there!

I would keep your eye out for those pocket style flares. If you can get your hands on some for a good price you would be able to probably sell any you could get your hands on.

It really depends, likely a quarter of the container.

I'm in importing and exporting, and many things are hand made in india.

I was only able to go to one market yesterday, and this place had "luggage carriers"

And ladders for the rear hatch. I didn't really bother with these. Let me know If some one is interested in these.

Hopefully today I'll be able to get out to the bigger grungier markets.

I may even be able to get my hands on some military surplus jerry cans, turns out a family friend runs the surplus depot...

Bird house snorkel top, jerry cans and the side markers that go in the fender (with pig tails)

I'll keep a look out for the side markers, but I think the bird house top will be harder to come by.

Factory short ladder that will fit the 80, (mounts at the rear door top and bottom) dual jerry can holder and
driving lamps, 8 inch or better. Thanks, safe travels, Bernard

Well, a factory short ladder is probably not going to happen, but they are willing to make some ladders fairly cheap. I just need some dimensions since I havent been able to find an 80 to rent.
Driving lights are not a problem I was looking at some last night, they had rainbow lenses unfortunately. The guy said he'd have some more in on Monday.

On the note of lights, some guy tried selling Hella 500ff's at twice the price I pay in the US.
Then another vendor tried to sell me a pair of light forces saying they are only available in his store.
For first of these, I laughed, declined and showed the first guy the 6 I had mounted on my 80 along with the price. :D

Sucess! Finally!

So I was roaming around one of the car markets, looking for some replacement headlamps for the Toyota Qualis we have here and I hit the jack pot.

As a side note, I never thought id have to :wrench: while here.... I was wrong, I had to replace the headlight units,
replace the AC compressor and belts... all in 120 degress. :flipoff2:

This guys tells me he can get just about whatever I want. Now, I doubt that it'll be OEM, but I told him I want quality.

cheap snorkels. lots of them!
Snorkels, Check. This guys tells me that he's got a supplier for them. He told me that they replicate Safari snorkels and they are half the price.

Found short ladders, they're not factory unfortunately. No Jerry can holder, but I did find an upgraded version of the factory spare tire carrier.
Driving lamps i can find dirt cheap. I'll see about 8in, I've been able to find a Hella 4000 replica.

just tought of this. the bubble window visors for the 80.

Window visors are easily done. If you want a set, I can get them.

I asked the guy about flares, he says that he's got OEM fiberglass and he has some aftermarket Plastic ones. I did find out that DEPO headlights are readily available here along with various types of LED tail lights. I may pick up a few sets!:flipoff2:

He's sending me prices along with pictures on Saturday, I'll try to post things up. Overall I've gear for less than half of what it costs in the US, now I just need to check quality.
Jerry cans, are in the works. I'll be going to that side of delhi tomorrow, on my way out of town.

Taking the weekend and going up towards Kashmir. I cant tell you how much I miss my 80 right now... those damn mountain roads....:censor:!!

"upgraded version of the factory spare tire carrier."
