I’ll do that. Silly not to.
The more mods I randomly post, it only gets worse. :) Sticking it on my to-do list.
Thanks.

Evolution:

Just added an Insta-table Mini. :hillbilly:

This little one might be even more useful than the can-top biggie...

Down for use...

After all...a man needs a handy spot for his chocolate milk...

;)

My chocolate milk addiction aside... This will be super handy for tools, food...coffee pots...etc.

If I ever need to remove both platforms...it only takes removal of 2 bolts total...because I connected the smaller table to the back of the larger table’s hinges:

That’s a cool use of that space Mark. Did that ratchet strap come with your bumper? I feel like the one that came with mine keeps getting loose. I’d prefer a ratchet strap like that.

Thanks!

About the strap you see on the ground...
-It came with my Slee jerry can basket.

I’m sure they could sell ya one... It’s perfect length.

But are you sure your straps feed through correctly? It should be solid enough to lift a small car...!

Yeah. Pretty sure it’s on correct. I just find that I can’t get those claw type straps as tight as a ratchet. Then that little bit of movement turns into more.

Oh. I thought you had the ratchet strap already but it was loosening.

They're called "E track ratchet straps".
Pretty easy to source.

Half my trouble when trying to solve little issues is I often don’t know official names for things. That’s the first time I’ve heard what those are actually called.

Yeah saying.
"Hey Alexa, what's the thing with the strap and clips into the other thing?" rarely works.

lol! It’s almost that bad sometimes!

Yeah. I figured US Cargo Control would have it, if it existed so I literally clicked on the various categories until I saw what I was looking for. But to be honest, when I asked you, I was hoping you knew the name. Hahaha.

Final chapter in the insta-table project...

The only thing left to do is mount two more magnets like the ones on top surface...that are strong enough to let me fold these up and away without any further securing. I know magnets seem iffy, but these will be firearm stashing/mounting magnets that are more than strong enough to grab the hinge material through the tops. Works a charm.

Both lower surfaces tuck nicely away. :)

Looks good. Are you using just the magnets to hold the tables up? Washboards can rattle lots of stuff loose, just something to keep an eye on. Maybe a bungee to keep things secure.

It will be easy to test...but yes. The magnets are firearms units rated for 75 pounds...and if anything, so think they might actually be too strong. There were a few in one of the photos, but those are temporary. Magnets arrive tomorrow and I can control their pull by adjusting the gap. Once the shelf’s are upright, they have almost down downward-pulling weight.

One of the reasons I left the slotted handle-holes on the extended part of the shelf is bc is wax first securing them with two sided Velcro. That stuff doesn’t budge. But magnets will be even easier.

But anyway...we’ll see tomorrow and I’Ll year them this weekend on washboard.

PS. Something similar to these are my backup plan if the rubberized super magnets don’t cut it...

There’s enough “spring” in the SS shelves to create tension behind these:

Washboards can do wacky things to components.
That should work though.

Ya, I remember how many major bolts rattled loose on some of our Baja trucks. :) Thankfully, @indycole was prepared with extra Toyota bolts!

Really though...there won’t be much force on these platforms as they are standing almost straight up against the back of the ladder.and the magnets will be bolted in place. Also they are pretty light. Not like most mod metal of standard satin black... We’ll see.
