LC is skipping and check engine light came on. Replaced the wires and plugs and check engine light came back on today and started skipping again. Mechanic said it will need a new distributor. Are there any good after market ones out there or just where is the best place to purchase one. Partsouq has none in stock. Thanks in advance for your input and help. This group of people have been a wealth of knowledge for me.

Aftermarket is junk, you can buy a new one from your local dealer or a used one.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping not to pay full retail for one as they are expensive
All Southeast Toyota Dealers are running a 25% off sale right now. Order a new one and get the sale price. It'll save you a good chunk of change.

Dealers in your area have 25% off right now check it out. Online purchases

Edit: Beat me to it lol
Those sales a great. I've used a couple of different dealers in the past for big ticket items and for boxes full of bits and bobs.

Thanks to you all for saving me 25%. Ordered from my local dealer online and retail was 1075 all in for me at 575. I just love this website and you guys. You are a wealth of knowledge. Thanks to all of you.

Right on! Glad that worked out and helped.

Did you order anything fun for me?

:flipoff2:

It's a good time to get vacuum hose, rad hoses, clamps, belts, bushings, OEM shocks, etc. Good deals right now.

@Boykin Hollow :

What codes did the mechanic find (did he check for engine codes?) ie: misfire in cylinder #6 or ??

What exactly did the mechanic say was wrong with your distributor and how did he diagnose it to be the problem??

Any other history or symptoms (overheating, increase exhaust smoke/vapor, etc)?

I am so broke now that I can't pay attention

Ugh. You are dealing with an antique/cult/collectible vehicle.

Feeding it OEM parts is going to be expensive.

A 30+ year old truck is a rich person’s game if you want to play.

Either chop-chop, or don’t play the game, or feed it whatever you want. But don’t complain.

On the ticket it reads: Code P0302 -cylinder 2 and Misfire P0340 Cam sensor fault
Misfire P0340 cam sensor fault

Were diagnostics done according to the Toyota FSM to troubleshoot the camshaft position sensor? Page DI-65/DI-66.

For real. Keeping these 80 Series on the road is getting harder all the time. Mine is 30 years old now, and I'm feeling the pain. But, she's a beauty, and it brings a smile to my face every time I drive her.
