1. Order the InfiniApps Slyde CD Slot Phone Mount. $25 from Amazon
2. Remove the 4 screws to access the rubber-coated steel plate that ordinarily goes into your car's CD slot. Use a Dremel to cut a bit off both ends so that it will fit into the Useless Storage Pocket

3. Here it is, reassembled. In the upper-right corner of the pic, you can see one of the tabs that I cut off.

4. Find some strong material to fill the excess space in the pocket. I sacrificed part of my hitch-mount bike rack's 1-1/4"-to-2" adapter sleeve

5. The OEM set screw is unacceptably large and clunky. Go to Ace and buy a 16mm M6 screw instead

I think some interior mods suck. If there is no other choice I go with function over form, but from my perspective sometimes the utility of what some guys do is not worth the the displeasure of looking at it... IMHO
We may do the same but with a cradle instead
