Correct me if I’m wrong, but the same people who were telling me nobody in their right mind would pay over 60k in the us for a 70 series wagon, pick up truck, or troop carrier, which is made by an internationally renowned automobile manufacturer are now telling me that $72,000 for a parts bin truck built as a vanity project is a great deal.

The 70 series is far more rugged and rough and older than this Ineos. The Ineos might be new and not yet proven, but it will 100% have better road manners, more luxuries, more “overlander” features that would entice more mainstream consumers that the 70 series would definitely alienate. 70 series is for the purists, but the Ineos is for both purists and a more mainstream consumer.

God forbid you take it to the trail and break something. I'd bet the wait for parts would be MONTHS.

Toyota parts are more $$ than BMW parts. That's my lived experience having wrenched both.

BMW seems to need more of them, though. I joke that my '07 e91 racing wagon is actually brand new because I've replaced every single thing on it. Toyota shyt doesn't fail much in comparison

BMW parts are less expensive if you know where to buy them! Ownership experience largely depends on what model you got and if you do any wrenching yourself. A BMW v8 is usually a bad deal no matter what era it is from!

FWIW: I have spent more on my 100 series than any one of my BMW!

Toyota parts are more expensive than just about any German manufacturer because Toyota thinks that anything more than one model generation old demands a 3X premium.

Who's going to buy one and immediately have a lift and goofy tires installed ?

How big of tires can I install without a lift?

Someone had to put it out there, but I doubt I’m the first. 😆

I saw a red one today in town, first one I have seen.

Cheers
I expect to see a couple once all the non-resident millionaires come north and open their summer homes.

They’re not in the US yet.

You sure it wasn't a new Defender?

Had the fugly front end of this thing. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I seen one of those new defenders a week or so ago, also fugly but looks more like a chevy than this thing.

Cheers

They are reportedly going to be starting shipping late 2023 for the 2024 model year
We’ll see. They’ve pretty much missed every mark at this point. Plus the first batch of vehicles was having teething problems.

Rooting for them though. I‘d look at one way before a 70 series unless I was working in a mine.

Toyota are still having supply problems with the 7* series in Australia. The new car backlog was 4 years in here for the dual cab 79 and 76 series and they have now stopped taking orders until the backlog is cleared.
For a lot of Aussies the Ineos maybe just the thing. Its already on sale here with about a 3 month wait and the ute will be here soon.

My local Toyota dealer has had an almost empty yard for the last 3 years. I was talking to some friends who work at the Toyota parts warehouse, they can sell their staff discounted cars after 1 year and even with 60000klms on their Corollas or Rav4 , they can sell it for more than what they paid new.

Toyota hasn't been able to meet demand for even mundane models like Sienna here in US too! Dealers are regularly marking up to $10k for a 1 year old Sienna since the new one still has 8-12 months waiting time!

This is not the thread for it, but I seriously wonder what the heck is the point of them introducing new models when they can't really produce them!
