They are letting you do mechanical maintenance and oil changes by yourself without voiding the warranty, and they partnered with Bosch for dealer support and maintenance
Ok Jr, how many oil changes have you done on a NEW truck/car, and part 2 how many new vehicles have you bought new that you have done an oil change on, part 3 if you had do think the dealership would have noticed? and 4 if they did?

Well what I do know is if you bought a new 5 series BMW, and started swapping mechanical parts that failed, and BMW found out, you’d probably get your warranty voided

And I OWN a 3series 328, I have modified, and talk to them, so BS.

Will enough buyers drive these vehicles as intended to prove the product is exceptional or will they become mall crawlers ?
If they're used as designed around year three the fleet reliability would start to show.
It might make 70 series obsolete.

They are testing the waters for a 4 door pickup version. It could maybe fill the void for Australian and other countries mine workers, which is a big share of 70 series sales. I don’t see the 70 series lasting much longer. It’s already an old vehicle.

It’s the same motor in the Toyota Supra. Hopefully it’s as strong as people say it is.

GX470s were considered soccer mom SUVs when they came out in 2002. It took about 7-8 years for them to be considered an option for serious wheeling.

It's just so damn ugly! Looks like a land rover was made of Play-Doh, then rolled around a bit to soften all the edges
I just read through all 45 pages of the downloadable brochure. Its growing on me.

I can't see ever paying $85K for a vehicle, but I like the form following function of the design. Little things like simple switches that are big enough for gloves, pre-wiring for all kinds of accessories, a washdown proof interior, ability to turn cooling fans off for water crossings, and a huge payload capacity are attractive. We'll see if it takes off and is reliable. I could definitely see picking one up used.

unless something crazy happens, It will probably be several years until I’ll be close to being able to afford one. Until then, I can compare used land cruisers to it to see how it might depreciate. This Land Cruiser is pretty old, but depending on how it does, it may be pretty good to pick a used one up. Seems like a reasonable price for what it is (pretending the Grenadier will depreciate similarly to a 200)

But if my choice of a nice and new 4x4 is between a prado and a Grenadier (assuming they can last at least 300k miles reliably) when I get to the point of affording such a vehicle, I’d hop into the Grenadier.

I really wish Ineos well and admire the concept of what they are trying to do. I've been following its development, like most of us for a long time. The Grenadier looks promising so far. That said, it's such a niche vehicle that I'm afraid it will be nothing more than a footnote in automotive history in a decade. (i.e. the DeLorean) I hope I'm wrong and that Grenadiers sell like hotcakes.

I intend to keep my 100 till either it or I die. However, if things workout I'd definitely consider picking up a used Grenadier in 5 or 6 years. Especially if the dual cab ute becomes a reality.

Most of the Grenadiers will notch in nicely between the Land Rover Defender and the Mercedes Benz G class mall cruisers here and Europe. A bunch will end up in the Emirates and other rice folk places and a lucky few will get beat up daily in places spelled with the letter A ( Africa, Asia, Australia etc ).

It’s gotta have a 20 inch alloy wheel option in the us or it won’t sell. Nobody wants boring but utilitarian black steel wheels here. I will probably see as many Grenadiers as I see rivians. Some, but not many. I’ve seen maybe 3 rivians since they came out

One of my brothers has had one on order since early in the process. He has kept me pretty saturated with updates and details.

Sounds like a fantastic vehicle, perhaps better than anything currently in production, but I would be very concerned about parts and service. Even more concerned about the lack of a robust DIY community like we have here.

I would still choose my 200 over every production passenger vehicle available, for how I use it.

I expect they will sell more annually than Toyota sold land cruisers, at least in the US. Has anyone seen order numbers?

That would actually be the least of my concerns. The IG message board seems really active for no one actually having a car yet, or even having test drove a production vehicle.

While the bits seem well chosen, number one concern for me would be reliability. It seems they are having some software issue that is slowing delivery. Then there’s the “we’re going to do the Canning Stock” and now silence. That thing needs to be rock solid for the reasons you mention.

That thumbnail is a photoshop, right?
The thumbnail looks a little weird, but the video is real. The axles also have been reported to be pretty big and strong
