As the tread states, my 2019 has inconsistent fog lights when trying to activate. They will not always stay on. For instance, I will have them on while driving(only recently because of rain/fog) and after sometime they will stop working. I also noticed my auto-bright icon when activated does not display in the dash either when this happens. Has anyone else experienced this? I have scheduled to go in on Monday. I thought the fogs might shutoff when the brights are activated but even when I turn off the auto bright, the fogs still won’t come on. Bizarre

Just to be sure (me not you), do the fog lights shut off when the headlights are on manual low beam only? My manual says they will cut out when on high beam. Wondering if it's an artifact of the auto headlight thing.

Anything more on the auto high beam you can describe? I'll try and see if I can make mine do it too.

Fogs will turn off when brights are activated. My company pickup is a new Chevy Silverado and it behaves in a similar manner. Something to do with the auto headlight thing.

The LC does that as well. I wondering if I have a lose connection a firmware issue. Either way, I’ll find out tomorrow hopefully

Turning off the fogs when the high beams are on is a DOT requirement, has been for many years. I know it's in the Vehicle Inspection Code for NH. Never seen a vehicle that didn't work that way, but maybe there is.

What I meant was, I know the LC turns the fogs off when brights come on. My fogs however don’t always come on when I want them to. I do have the brights off when trying.

The issue with the fog lights to work properly...

1.don’t have the stock lever setting switched to auto headlights if you want to manually turn on your fogs. 🙄

2. To manually operate your fog lights, turn to headlight setting 🙄

3. Apologize to service agent for being a moron. 🤪

At least I got the 15k service done while I waited.

It’s not exactly intuitive... but yeah probably some weird glitch in the matrix between DOT requirements and auto headlights. Personally I think I’d hate that “feature”.. still happily rocking manual cruise control even though my 13 has radar.

You should check out the newer Range Rover infotainment. So freaking complicated. As I get older, I certainly appreciate good old switches.

We think very much alike.

So was it in the AUTO setting and the headlights were not on but you were trying to turn the fog lights on? Or it was dark enough for your low beams to be on and the fogs still didn't work?
Because I've noticed fogs only come on when the low beams are on, they will not work with just parking lamps on. Some other makes let you do that, but good ole Mr. T doesn't

If you have the ‘auto’ low lights selected and fog lights selected on lever, they will only turn on when it’s dark enough to activate auto lights function. However, the fogs will not work if you want to use them while auto low lights are off because it’s not dark enough. In order to activate the fogs anytime you want, the non-auto headlights must be on, just can’t be on ‘auto’ headlight selection. Hope that make sense.

Every car is like that. Fogs cannot be turned on without headlights also being on.

Yes, but in my wife’s Porsche can have the auto headlights activated and still use the fog lights during daylight

Yup that's exactly what I was trying to ask.

Yea it a bit annoying that other brands allow that to work while Toyota doesn't
