wow, this is looking great.

I have the same rust issues at the rear wheel wells.

For the sound deadener try dry ice. There are a few threads on using it to crack off most of the larger chunks.

Dave

Thanks, i'll try that as well as an air chisel and see what works best.

Today I got the inside ps rear fender cleaned. thought it would be a good idea to remove all the factory undercoat and make sure there was no hidden rust

Another 2FE  You won't be disappointed.

Edit.

Your power steering pump I think is on the 3FE side rather than the 2F if you run the 2F set up you keep your alternator higher up and out of the mud and water as much as possible. I run a P/S pump from a GM as there are far cheaper and work better than the Toyota one and fit the same bracket.

Take it you have to be smog compliant too?

Holy crap!! thats a sweet engine:cheers:. I'd love to ride shotgun in that rig.

I ended up keeping everything in the stock 3FE position as this was my first major swap project. I really enjoyed the process and the bit of individuality it brings to my cruiser. Geez, I've really got to come up with a better name for her rather than "my cruiser";). Thanks for all the props everyone. I'll have some more pics of the quarter chop posted in the next day or so.

Turned out pretty good. Next weekend I hope to durabak the interior.
I'll prolly use rust bullet under the fender wells also (if I ever get those quarters patched properly) with a coat of durabak to seal it all up.

Looks like all your hard work is paying off!:bounce:

thanks man. I still can't see the light at the end of the tunnel but I reckon if I just keep stumblin along It will show up sooner or later:D

Finally got my welder/weldee adjusted right and was almost able to finish one of the quaters. Then Iran out of wire. Run to town. Run home. Start welding again. An hour later, NO GAS :bang:. Geez this quarter chop is turning out to be the biggest PITA of the whole project.

Where can you get Rust Bullet?

Floor looks great, i have a piece of brass flat bar with different angles milled off, i place it behind where i'm welding to reduce blowing through.

Hurray, another Rust Bullet fan! Nice to see how it looks on the floor since that's the way I'm headed. I too will be painting my wheel wells with it. After wheeling in the mud and letting it dry for a week the mud on the area's that had any RB coating came right off with very little scrubbing when I washed it. I've always ordered it from the website but what stores (names) did you find it in?
