Anyone know when this was used on the FJ45? I have a friend that swears that it was used. Just not sure of the year.

My 78' AUS spec 45 has this information on the bezel of the ignition switch. No separate plate.

Thanks for the information guys, I keep looking. Maybe an Australian spec. Just trying to confirm dates of use if any for sure.

Hey "Bear" are you out there? I'll bet you know.

Just to be clear, I believe this was for the dash mounted ignition only. It fits perfectly around the dash switch, then you can screw the cap on.

I have one of those in my stash. It came with an ignition switch I bought from Toyota in the early nineties.

Interesting, Thanks Mark.

CP,

Sorry, but my searching doesn't come up with a diagram or part number for that bezel from 1964 onward. I also have never seen one on an FJ40/45, but it could be correct under a specific application.

Perhaps Mark A. could provide a part number for reference.

Assuming you have the OEM switch for your year vehicle, when this is installed behind the switch, do those black dots line-up exactly for each key position? Lots of electric switches from various manufacturers have come with similar bezels over the years--yours could have been added. Toyota could very well have supplied a bezel with a switch for a non-Land Cruiser, and even not issued a separate part number for it.

In the early eighties, the rheostat headlamp switch had a bezel to indicate dash lamp dimming, and it WAS given a separate part number.

Interesting. If it did come on an FJ40/45, then there would likely be a similar bezel with Japanese characters for the home market.

Marv Spector, "The Encyclopedia," would have had the answer.

Thanks Bear, x 2 on Marv. The dots do line up for each position. I'm thinking for another market possibly.

Thanks again,
Mark
