How about a thread on what everyone carries in their trucks. Trail spares, fluids,etc....

Turn singnal mods...addition ones (side/mirror) and making the stock ones more friendly.

This would be a good thread. Maybe my wheeling buddies will read it and take their own spares instead bludging off me all the time.
Could also include tools and recovery equipment.

Such a thread already exists I do believe in Outfitting.

Don't want to steal from Biff's baliwick.....(Its not very large as it is):D

What about a thread on the various options for lockers and reviews/impressions of each.

 Guess I need to check in outfitting more often.

Having found myself articulating in a lift thread myself, it should be pretty easy to baseline it. The best measurements of lift is the hub/rim to the bottom of the fender (excluding flare). Those running tires can include the size (easy to deduct that from the ride height). Those that run any type of adjustable setup can put in min and max height.

Since FAQ's are btdt based, it only requires the hardware and measures to call it a FAQ. Enough of them, and some baselines can be made as to how much with given hardware, and what the issues may be.

Exclude the 'what if's', and just give the 'what dids', there shouldn't be any issues regarding 'if' it works, unless it specifically didn't from btdt.

A lot of good can come from it IMO.

For the lift FAQ, who would be willing to help us with some technical stuff up front? An FAQ of this type should have an Intro (IMO) with high leverl discussions and rules before everyone posts up what they did.

reffug and I will need someone to PM us the upfront technical srtuff so we can compile it and start the thread.

Just PM what you learned and we will try and compile it.

Anyone?

One that I hope to do this summer.

A duracoat/rhinolining the rocker panels and etc FAQ? Interiors, Exteriors, and the removal of Fender flares..

The most recent one that I saw was a great DIY example of doing the entire circumference of the vehicle like I wish to do, but now the user name escapes me..

Factory Roofrack removal FAQ?

I did look quickly at the current faq to see if these had been included, I did not see them, my bad if they have been added..

A lift FAQ would be great. Definately going to have to watch the no-chit chat rule.

I'd split it up into a couple of sections.

1. OME - everything but J's
2. J's -with and without spacers
3. Slee 4"
4. Slee 6"
5. MAF -4"
6. Other

Keep the comentary limited

1. What lift Kit / components did you use?
2. What tire size are you running?
3. Rim specs - 16x8 w/ "x" backspacing
4. Have you had any rubbing issues?
5. What caster correction, if any have you used?
6. What is your main on and off-road uses of vehicle?
7. Are you happy with the performance on and off-road your for your use.

Then maybe a side shot of the truck, and an off-road or ramp shot.

Might go something like this:

1. OME J-springs, no spacers or packers, L-shocks, 2" dropped bumpstops, dropped pitman arm in rear.
2. 315/75R16 Truxus MT's
3. 16x8 stock rims
4. Minnor rubbing on rear mud flap.
5. OME caster correction bushings.
6. On road: Back and forth to work 6-7 miles on 2 lane hwy. Off-road: Lots of loose rocks and steep hills. A little rock crawling now and again.
7. Thrilled with the on-road performance, Off-road I could use a little longer travel shock.

and then a picture or two....

I would like to see a FAQ section on braking, brake upgardes and replacement, troubleshooting, etc.

I have been investigating the slightly soft braking on my new-to-me FZJ80, and found a tech piece on adjustment of the proportioning valve and it's effect on braking. This is really good info that I have not heard discussed. It's here: http://www.safari4x4.com.au/80scool/tech/brake.html

The 60 FAQs I arranged into a single thread, and added links to discussions by topic, once it was clear that they would be of value, and some of the nonsense was edited out. Just a thot.

I second the throttle body cleaning suggestion.

How about a section for us FJ80 3FE guys? Anything motor related could go in there. Dual battery set-ups would be different from FZJ80's. Sliders are not discussed for the FJ80. Just a thought for us orphans of the 80 community.

how bout a whats the best wheel polish thread:doh:

oops, was this one of the "No threads, sorry"

:D :D :D

i'll leave now :flamingo:
