I am getting an ICON lift installed. It came with their dual rated spring in the rear. Any idea what kind of weight, if any, they can support? I have a loaded LC...bumper, swing outs, fridge, drawers, rtt, etc...It appears many are going with ARB rear springs. Thoughts? Experience?

there was thread earlier on the "Slinky" kits out of Australia. looks like they were running Icon rear springs.

#slinkylongtravel 200 kits come with the bump stops and diff drop, and everything needed as a complete package.

The rear coils are 150kg levelling

200kg (440lb) constant load 3"

400 kg constant load 3"

We use the blackhawk 3 degree factory ball joint oe supplier chassis bush set up to fix the caster and extra droop clearance.

In 2018 we have new kdss links to suit the 12" rear shocks, and keep the kdss working.

Depending on engine determines front coil over rate.

Roy Park got icon rear springs, I believe he said they were progressive, but I could be wrong.

OME springs are tried and true. shop may be going that route to get the desired height with the weight you have on the truck.

if you stick with Icon springs, let us know how they ride. would be curious if they are better/worse/same as OME.

@mpho how are the Icon rear springs working for you?

I'm looking for a little more height in the rear, without increasing the spring rate.
I'm running OME 2721s now, with modest weight in the rear.

The springs were an awesome ride. However, the weight on my rig was too much. I went to OME 2724s....Let me know if you are interested trying the ICONs...PM me...

Springs spacers are the perfect tool for that job. They come in many flavors: 5, 10, 15, 20mm. 80 and 100-series spacers work in our 200-series. There are also thinner trim packers to level side to side.

I'm already at 30mm spacers.
Would rather have taller springs.

^ Wow. Not sure I'd do any taller than a 30mm spacer. Time to find longer free length springs with the right spring rate!

I'm running the 2724's..... and dropping from the 30mm spacers to the 10mm version to level her out on the 35's...but I've got the extra 300'lbs of rear bumper/ tire/cans...

My plans for the rear bumper got pushed back. I chose to do gears/locker first.
I love the way the 2721 springs ride. With modest weight in the back ( one homemade drawer and a fridge) the truck is balanced, takes big hits well, isn't too bad on the minor road imperfections, and flexes amazingly. The dual rate keeps the back end from sagging too much when towing the boat.
I've got about 3/4" rake to keep from blinding people when towing or hauling more stuff in the back. I'd like to crank up the front end another half inch or so, but I'm maxed out on rear height with my current set up.

I'm hoping the Icon springs have a similar spring rate with a taller free height.
The OME 2721 springs are listed at 270/350 lbs. and free height of 430 and 440 mm.

the next step up in OME spring land would be the 2723. steady compression at 340lbs. and free height of 440/450mm.
I'm just afraid the heavier spring rate would make the truck ride very rough.

I really liked the 2721's right up until the rear bumper..... they're very stable feeling and flex better than the 2724's I think, but with the weight even with the 30mm spacer Christo and Ben suggested the 2724's..... other than that I think they're the best option if you're not running a rear bumper...

I wish there was a mid level progressive spring..... the 2724's only weakness is choppy road, where the 2721 really shined.

A while back there was a thread on slinky suspensions. Seems the 80 series guys liked them. They came out with a lot for Australian 200s. Had more spring options. Looked like they were icon springs, at least icon branded.

Icon was tight lipped about spring rates when I called.....

Just put on the IVD progressives... I'm thinking they're a little low on weight capacity, but we'll see how they shake out next week on the way to Expo.

Oregon,
How much weight are you running in your rig?
Hopefully we can meet up at expo. Love checking out other set ups. Always come away from expo with new ideas.

Right now I’m 3,500 front and 4,000 rear. But that’s with no rear bumper. When the front gets completed with a winch it will be another 100lbs and the rear will gain 150-200. My guess was I’ll be right around 8k fully loaded just like the 100 was.

Yes, please come visit me in MetalTech’s booth! If all goes well, we should have some good media feeds. You can follow me @CrossroadsOverland on Instagram and Chris Miller from MetalTech will be posting on their feeds.

was installing taller bump stops last night and had to pull out the driver's side spring. Thought I'd snap a pic of the 2721s with 30mm spacer.
the 2721 measures 17" tall with no compression. Really looking at the Icon progressives, should be similar spring rate, but start at 18.5"

I luckily picked up a pair of the Icon progressive rear springs from @OregonLC.

The icon springs are the same height, but come with a 10mm spacer.
here are a couple pics of the icons vs OME 2721.

I decided to run the Icon 10mm spacer and a pair of OME 10mm spacers to get the rear height where I wanted it.
I'm sitting at 24 3/4" from center of the wheel to the fender. almost dead even side to side, a hair lower on the passenger with the fridge and slide installed.

So far, the ride is great. very similar to the OME springs. The truck seems a little more plush, but I do have the rear sway bar off temporarily.
I'll be towing the boat home tomorrow. i'll update on how the springs do with a little more load (compared to the OMEs)

I know this an old thread but what was the difference in lift height of the 721s and the Icons?
I can’t seem to find a lot of info on the Icons.

I believe I got close to 1" taller.
Rode great with an empty truck. Buttery smooth. Just too soft with drawers, roof top tent and camping gear.
