Ron, just curious if your doctors had any comments on your health picture? Were they concerned about your diet? Weight?

You always sound active - raising goats, cutting hay, shoveling rock, working on Pigs, etc. Just wondering what I can learn from you...

Pablo,

The cardiologist is a runner also and said everything looked good. We were comparing our best times for the marathon. I know, we have slipped on the diet over the years since retiring, so we've tightened that up and plan to increase the hiking, etc. I'm not sure running is in the cards with my back and knees, but I can still do something. like you said, get back to the pool. Back in the day. I'd have my bike at my Dad's house and run there, 20 miles, then ride the bike to the pool, swim a mile , then ride home. Good work out. Those days are gone!

Short story... My best marathon time is 3:20 back when I was 40 and to qualify for Boston, I needed a 3:15. Over the years they increased the time, so more people could run, but since the bombings, they had to lower the qualifying time because so many people want to run it. I was still faster than the Doc! :)

You're doing the best with swimming, but man is it boring swimming two miles in a lap lane. Diet and aerobic exercise, you know that.

I did a triathlon at Lake St. Louis and when the horn blew, 1500 people hit the water. I felt like a sardine, getting kicked, pushed under, etc. didn't like that too much. Cold too!

Ah, the cold builds character!
Back in mid-August when I was training for my swim, we had a cold snap move through and the air temp was 46 degrees when we were getting out of the water - that gets your attention!

You need a smaller event. I am fortunate enough to swim here with 1 or 2 other people in the morning. We might swim tomorrow, but it is getting dark and cold in the morning. These days our turn around point is identified as the furthest light to the R. Interesting swimming in the dark...
