inner and outer fender,

If it is salvageable, go remove that fender emblem, carefully, before the work begins. As you may know, the 40th emblems are long-since discontinued.

Edit: Hell, if it aint salvageable, go remove all of the 40th emblems...so your next Cruiser can resemble your last two!

Jim,
Sorry to hear about the accident. Very glad that you walked away from it w/ no major injuries. Keep us posted on how things work out.

Jim,

I just thought of this now that that beauty may remain rollin'. I can save that emblem. If the emblem's not torn, cut the metal out that it's attached to and send it to me. Leave a couple inches all around it so I'll have something to grip/work with.

I remove badges all the time as part of my work and this would be off the scale difficult but fun for me to do/try. No charge, obviously. PM me for my address, or click on my Head Gasket link below for a mailing address.

I'll send it back to you with instructions, and stuck to transfer tape to make it easy. Of course if the body shop is able to find new, then that may be your best move.

If I remember correctly the 40th anniversary side moulding has been discontinued as well. Looking at the crumple it doesn't appear that it would be salvageable. I think the "4 wheel drive" side moulding is still available so maybe you could switch over? The "4 wheel drive" side moulding is a lighter grey than the 40th anniversary side moulding so you'd have to replace it all if you want it to match. (I think it's lighter and not darker)

I feel for you.

Glad to hear you are ok I know I would be upset if it were mine.

Ouch. That reminds me of this guy:

What will happen is he will end up with the proper color 95-97 moulding for the front door but it will say "FOUR WHEEL DRIVE" like yours do. The plain front door mouldings used on the 40th and the Collector have been superceeded to the above described moulding.

Note to Jim:

Be sure to get the dirtbags to pop for a RH front door moulding so it will match.

Doug that emblem is a combination of a raised panel "40" and a flat text that is in the form of a decal. You may be able to lift the 40 but the decal aint goin' nowhere. I suggested to Jim that he cut it out like you suggested and then have a sign place or the like try to duplicate the decal portion.

What's the latest, JR? Did you get it driving? Gonna buy it back? Found another?

Even though it may be rought to think about, another 40th owner would like to know as well? What is the progress?

Jim,
That is totally a bummer! I'm so sorry it happened but the Cruiser probably saved your neck! Good luck with the aftermath and feel free to vent your anger we ALL understand!
