I looked at the new 200 today.

I looked at the LC.

I agree, with respect to HIDs. I know they're trying to seperate the LC from the LX, but I have a hard time feeling good about "compromising" when I'm spending $72K.

As for the recent quality. My LC has been bullet-proof mechanically, but as you mentioned the electronic gremlins have been an issue.

My local Toy store called me this morning to tell me they got a new LC in. So, I went down and kicked some tires and drove it for a bit. The other one I drove was when I was out of town. After I left the dealership and drove off in my 100 I thought to myself...." $73+K sure is a lot for a Toyota ! Is the 200 THAT much better than my 100? The answer is ...No, it really isn't That much better just to get rid of a perfectly good 100 !" Of course the 200 is new, smells great and has that big motor in it, but I never have felt like the 100 was terribly underpowered and to be honest, I think the 100 is better looking. Sure, the 200 is a really good vehicle but for $73,K+ it better be. Which brings me to this question again...Is it worth that price to ME ?? .......I have no qualms answering that with a big NO !! I think I am going to start looking for an '06 CPO LX. I could pay $73K for a new '08, but I am not going to. I don't know how others out there feel, but no matter how good it is, $73,000 is just too much for a Toyota. Toyota is NOT a premium brand and THAT is a premium price. I still might wait for the '08 LX but I'm not sure it will sway my feelings that much to make me want one.

I went and checked one out on the way from LA to San Diego today. Looks marginally better tucked up than previous wagons. High quality and appears well screwed together like other Toyota products. But it sure is fugly! As far as reliability and longevity, well, I guess we won't know for a while. They do say, always buy a vehicle at least two-three years into the model run...

I am very interested to see how the bumper makers figure out how to fit to the twundy. It's definitely going to be a challenge to make it blend in with the upper body panels.

dtt255: Are the rear wing windows still operative ala the hundy series?

You are absolutely correct. I have failed to mention that I am wearry about buying any make of auto in the first year of production.

I don't know how you guys see highlander in the new LandCruiser. The 200 looks more LC than anything. I like it. I like the way the grille resembles the 60 series, the but sticks out like and goes all the way to the front like the traditional LCs. I like the way the window line screams LandCruiser, the stance and looks from the front profile demand respect. All I wish was if the bulges in the fenders were carved instead of floating.

Highlander, it does not look like.

Which one is the Land Cruiser?

Sorry man, I was being serious!

Ok I am gonna guess the bottom picture is the LC.... It would have fog lamps for sure...

Well you have 2 rovers...so it does not surprise me that seeing a LC would seem foreign to you.

Do you need me to hand you a cheat sheet? :D

Here be a couple of LX570 pics. Do the running boards seem to be a little different than the LC's ? Damn, I hope they are removable..

Enjoy !!

Is it me or from this angle the red one looks like a Touareg (that's better than a highlander though !!) ? ;)

Yes, a big, fat Toureg! I usually like the looks of the Lexii versions of Toyotas, but this is even more hideous than the Cruiser, IMHO.
