and not of Malt Liquor either.

I was really into wheeling back in the early 2000s. Went out with the Island4x4 guys quite a bit along with blackflag guys. Back then I had a 4Runner....

Two young boys, a wife and wrenching every other weekend made me sell it back in 2006 but the itch returns.

I have a 2008 Tundra currently (bought it new) and am working on a deal for partial trade for an FJ40 and I hope it goes through so I can join you on the local (Nanaimo) trails.

I'd like a stocker that I can restore/improve over time. I'm not looking to put 35s on it but maybe 33s; modest but capable and a decent daily driver as well would be great.

If you have any leads I'd appreciate 'em. If not, consider this an introduction thread and I hope to see you out there one of these days.

Regards,

Warren

Are you looking for tires or a lead on a 40... I know it's late so maybe I'm not reading it right.

Welcome.

We found a gasser four friend here in Nanaimo, keep looking something should pop up and welcome to the VI cruisers. There is about 4 trucks in Nanaimo that get out most weekends for light wheeling, we always welcome new folks.

Thanks Rob.

Yeah I figure with a bit of patience and persistence something will come up eventually. That's the plan anyway.

Cheers,

Warren

...plus no papers. Is it difficult to register and transfer ownership on something like that?
Depends on who last registered owner was. If it's the guy selling it, should be easy IF he helps.

Top bits a tad squished from a falling tree or something...otherwise doesn't look terrible. Lovely rear bumper:lol:

Should be 1k tho. The insanity of current prices has taken all the fun out of cruisers.

If he's not the registered owner, he can't legally sell it... without at least a bill of sale from the registered owner.

If you can find the registered owner, it is easy to get papers. There's a process to find out who the owner is and get papers... even if they're mia. It's much easy if the owner will just sign the docs to go with the ICBC letter showing they're the owner.

I'd show up with $500... I think he added an extra zero since it's not runner and he can't be bothered to get papers.

Thing I always worry about , is you find registered owner and he freaks out.

Happened to me and a friend, buying a rotten old 40 that had been behind a barn for 20 years from an old guy, turned out it belonged to his son, and he was none to pleased with the dad.

So, pleasantries were exchanged , off we went, and that was the end of that.

Fortunately just a parts truck, so not a big deal in the end .

Warren, great meeting with you for a coffee today..hope you find a nice 40/42 to fit the bill for you and your kids..Look forward to seeing you on the trails.

From what I've seen, the guys in this club are very generous when selling stuff, and usually sell way less than 'market' value.

A vehicle without papers just ain't worth much no matter how you look at it IMHO. And we all know that most cruisers are selling for more than they're truly worth at this point. Likely due to the American market. A bit like real estate here the last few years....

Why waste the guys time and yours offering him 10 or 15 percent of what he is asking? If anyone shows up and does that to me, I raise the original price and tell them to get out of my yard. Asking too much for something you own then turning around and offering way less to someone when you are buying something is morally flawed behavior.

I've found many sellers just throw a high price out there to see if there are any takers. Nothing wrong with that, just as there's nothing wrong with low-ball offers, even if insulting. The right price is the agreed-upon price between buyer and seller.
