I fought the headliner and the headliner lost

Taking off the sunroof is definitely a two man job. I give great advice. I just don't follow my own advice. My plan was simple. Loosen the bolts, sit in the back seat while propping up the sunroof with the legs while holding the back and slowly lowering it to the headrest. Easy right?

Well, then things went not according to plan. Misjudged how lopsided the the weight of the sunroof is

I breezed through the thread real quick (I'm on a lunch break) but for your headliner swap you used the post 95 headliner, A B and C pillar trim and front seatbelt mounts, correct?

I have a rattle midway behind the closed sunroof & at low speed driving away it rattles like crazy. Looking at your sunroof cannot understand for the life of me where your t could be?

Any help appreciated

So how is this for unbelievable luck.

Scour through "junk" and find some rusty ass axles under an 80 covered in mud.

Me: How much?
Him: $50 bucks
Me: fair enough. Ill take it
Him: Why would you want this crap. Its some old man emu stuff probably all worn out.
Me: I could use the spares

Get the "crap" home. Smother it all in degreaser. Pressure wash it. Color starts to come through. Turns out that its a complete Slee 4" lift kit. SCORE!!!!!

Then started to tear into the axles. I thought that it would be educational. Turns out more SCORE!! I now have beautiful birfields, spare axles front and rear. Great.

Proceeded to take out the third members. MORE SCORE!!! Nitro gear 4.88 which is just what I wanted because I'm changing to 35" tires.

All in all it was a pain in the ass to get everything off. the axle housing as well as everything original Toyota was in horrible shape. But all worth it. I just saved $3K Now to polish everything and a bit of rattle canning to make it all look like new.

I just kept the rusty ass control arms to keep the orientation of the caster plates correct. Ill never remember.

With all these savings I can go and buy the harrop lockers

Redoing old school headliners with hoops is really not too bad. You can buy presewn headliners for $300ish, then it's just clips, spray adhesive, and molding. I can't seem to figure out how to remove a windshield without breaking it though and it definitely has to come out to do. I pulled the rear sliding windows as well. I wish I would have welded a panel in and deleted my sunroof while I had it all out. hindsight (sigh)

The headliner turned out awesome. Fits very nicely. ALl the holes matched up. You just need to drill holes for each of the a, b, c & d pillars. Then the trip can click in nicely.

I finished all the doors today and the rear quarter panels. Just need to add the insulation on top of it then get some butyl tape and put the vapor barrier back on the doors. Then I can finally reassemble the whole thing.

I closed up the cruiser, turned on the motor and the difference is already quite apparent. Not a single rattle and the sound transmission has been reduced by about 70~80%. That is before the carpet backing and carpet as well as all padded trim and headliner are back on. I really am looking forward to driving this thing when done.

This thing has to sound like a limo! Well done sir!

Too bad about the pics. It sure would be helpful.
