I was always told to go in slowly to give a chance for things to cool down. Not sure if that would cause a problem to the pump though, it just isn't as hot as the turbo or head. It is something to think about though.
Good luck, and I hope it isn't too expensive for you.
the egt was below 400F at the time... i was idling around...

ihope it is something simple as well...

400 isn't too bad, I don't think that should have caused much problems. Did you check your sedimenter and filter?

what am i checking for? the fuel cap was well above the water line and the rest of the system is a seal unit...

hummm....

I had a few deep water crossings in a bj42 once, got the clutch wet - like you talked about, and although the engine never died I ended up with water in teh separator. - no idea how just ended up there.

I just try to eliminate everything.

okay, the seperator oin the old BJ42s is down on the frame, on the PZ they are up on the fender and are part of the fuel filter...
i can understand what you are saying... in the 42 i am curious as to how you got water int eh seperator unless the fuel cap was under the water as well...
cheers

Well, the whole truck was under water, atleast over the hood. I suspect a hole in the top of the gas tank, leak in the fuel sender gasket etc. My filler cap was tight as far as I know.

On a separate event I was with a new jeep yj, he took water in also, it came in from a leaky gasket on top of the fuel tank.

At this time ( and all that we need to pull me out ) I let my engine running .. the only problem that I have engine realted was my EDIC relay .. as you thought totaly inmersed under water.

Off course my 2H no turbo .. no mayor problems .. fuel system seales as Wayne adivce .. nothing to worry.

Your checking for water in the sedimenter. If there's none, then you're right... it's sealed and no problems. If there's water in there, then you know there's another possible cause of the engine smoking. Just check it... And while you're at it, it's probably a good time to check clutch/brake/power steering fluids for water contamination too. You don't want those systems rusting from the inside out.

At this oportunity ( the pic that I postes in page 1 ) I get some watter inside the box .. a little at bottom, I can dri it with a cloth.

I'm pretty sure that is maybeimposible seal all the air box .. but in maybe 5 or 10 min that be under water works fine.

yep, when the lid is on properly it takes a while to get any real amount of water in but when the top is not secured properly then it only takes seconds...

$20 on the turbo. Two reasons:

A) Oil smoke is black, Fuel smoke is black
White smoke is a headgasket
Blue smoke is almost always a turbo.

I've blown enough turbo's playing with my sports cars to know the difference.

B) When you submerged it you say the turbo wasn't spinning... this is incorrect, the turbo is spinning the moment you turn the car on. It may not be spinning fast enough to put out any boost but it will be doing near on 20k rpm at idle. Especially with a 4 litre diesel feeding it.

C) The turbo went from 20krpm to nothing in a fraction of an eye. What happens when you hit a river crossing at 40 and the water goes through yoru radiator into your fan? Imagine this happening inside the casing of your turbo. I imagine you have power loss from your engine. The turbo itself will be very hardy being a factory item but it is nonetheless rooted.

Cheers :)

PS. Feel free to rip me if it turns out to not be the turbo!
