Yeah ours was similar. I agree, they are definitely not going after the "lowest and best pricing" market.
Our 40x60 package without concrete was about a tenth of that quote. Installed it was still a a quarter of that price.
I looked at stick framing, but if you want a 12' or 14' ceiling, finding straight 2x6s gets to be the issue. I think if your just looking at 10' ceilings traditional framing would be fairly straight forward.
